  1. Really!? It's called baseball? Thanks for letting me know! They are going to lose more games than they win when the starting pitcher has a sucky night. They can't score ten runs a night. The thread is about discussing Grayson Rodriquez's pitching. Just saying his performance doesn't really matter is incorrect and an uninteresting take.
  2. But, but they lost. They absorbed a loss.
  3. It's a pretty stacked lineup tonight. Hope they make life hell for the Angels tonight.
  4. Mayo hasn't played a single inning in the outfield during his minor league career. The Orioles do some weird stuff in terms of defensive positions, but you think they would play him like one game in the OF if they thought it was his future.
  5. > 0.127 OPS But more seriously, we don’t know what they might want him to work on if he gets sent down. I would assume they would have specific things that he needs to improve. Not just “play better” because a few weeks of great hitting stats at Norfolk may not mean much.
  6. "In Major League Baseball (MLB), a player needs a minimum of 3.1 plate appearances per team game to qualify for the batting average title. This requirement is defined in Rule 10.22(a) of the Official Baseball Rules." So about 65 or 66
  7. Fantastic pickup by Elias and big kudos to O’Hearn for taking advantage of the resources to improve. He’s a great story.
  8. Given his injury history and what’s happening right now, Means may make more money as an Oriole next year than as a free agent. He may have to settle for league minimum as a FA but would do better than that in arbitration. Heck, unless he’s effective at least a little this year then the orioles might release him after the season to avoid paying more than league minimum. I hope Means recovers, very much so, but this scenario is possible imo. ps. I guess I ignored the part where you said if Means thinks he is healthy.
  9. What a great example of pedantic! Please tell us you meant to do that. I honestly can’t tell these days.
  10. Good point. Plus they could put him on roster, let him throw a bullpen where he complains about tightness or similar, then put him back in IL. If he’s not really healthy then he will end up on IL one way or another.
  11. I don’t want to offend anybody and I like Cal Ripken about as much as most Orioles fans, but based on his time as a color commentator I don’t think Cal is particularly smart. He’s certainly less well spoken than I once thought he was.
  12. That wear and tear really shortened his career.
  13. Most catchers can’t hit so they are not rotating at DH on a regular basis. The NL only recently got the DH so that wasn’t an option for a lot of the good hitting catchers back in the day. It’s not really an apples to apples comparison in many ways.
  14. No, Gunnar was not sent down. And I definitely don’t expect Holliday to be sent down anytime soon. I think they may pick their spots to start him if he continues to struggle this badly, but the negative attention of a demotion would be real challenging.
