I know I have already made some points on this... But I'll genuinely be shocked if Cashner posts a sub-6.00 ERA and any sort of positive value. And I really hope I am wrong. I really do...

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that I think that Ynoa deserves a spot in the starting rotation... My point is simply, for a team with so few resources, why would you spend $8M for the same production as someone you already have? We aren't talking about someone like Guthrie or Miguel Gonzalez who seem to consistently outperform their peripherals. I think you can probably count on one hand the number of guys (there's a Reddit post saying it's NEVER been done) who even came close to repeating that kind of "luck".

Player A makes $500k, while player B now makes $8M... A Ynoa B Cashner Admittedly, there are a lot more variables then the 4 stats. But I can't find ANY that says that Cashner is going to worth the difference between Ynoa and himself. There is just about a 0% chance he is going to be able to continue putting up anything close to those results last year with those peripherals...

Any guesses?
