  1. Just think, if Davis gets a hit on his next at-bat, his batting average will rise significantly from .000 all the way up to .042. If Rosenthal gets an out on the next batter he faces, his ERA will drop precipitously from INFINITY all the way down to 189.0!
  2. The division in general has sucked since the break. Even 8-6 is only slightly better than mediocre. Hopefully August wakes the O's back up, July was atrocious.
  3. I think what surprises me most is how effective the bullpen has remained despite the absence of O'Day. Very resilient team!
  4. The new system is better for wildcard number, worse for wildcard number one. Arguably worse for the three seed because now they face a "tested" team in the LDS.
  5. That was a heck of a game. Personally I'm ticked the ump didn't immediately eject Ortiz for flipping out and yelling in his face on the strike 2 call in the bottom of the ninth. That was way past "arguing balls & strikes" right there.
  6. Man, I'm still giddy over today, what a great day to be an O's fan! Back to back shutouts, great performances by the starting pitchers, the bullpen, the defense and the bats, and end the day in first place. Doesn't get better than that!
  7. I don't know much about the deeper rules of baseball, but is there a rule about when a batter leans into a ball that wouldn't have hit him if he hadn't moved? I think it's pretty weak that the perfect game is lost because of a pitch like that which usually would never hit the batter because it's just a sort of normal inside pitch.
  8. O's still have the best record in the majors since the All-Star Break, and the best run differential & pythag W/L. And we have the head-to-head vs the Angels. As far as I'm concerned, they may have the better record, but we're still the better team!
  9. 65-49. If we play .500 ball the rest of the way that gets us to 89 wins. We only need to turn one of those losses into a win and we're at 90 wins. I like our chances.
  10. It's been a while since I studied statistics in college, but wouldn't it by definition be .500 because for every winner there is a loser?
