  1. Instead of doing a 5/100 or a 7/120 they did a 10/140 to spread it out for tax purposes. Being a catcher he might be washed up by 35 or declining significantly by 32-33. 14M per year is actually light but it’s a good deal because of the years.
  2. Your first problem is that you have no concept of what whining is. Your second problem is that clearly you are the one who hasn’t moved on. I’m sure you have more problems but let’s just start with those two. I don’t want to overwhelm you.
  3. Interesting. He really is Adam Frazier. LOL
  4. One interesting question. If Elias never intended on having Holliday start in the majors this year why promote him so aggressively last year? Also, why the comments about Holliday having a “strong possibility” of making the team. They could have easily slow played him last year. No one would have questioned if they kept him at Delmarva until June 1, and in Aberdeen through July 31 or something like that. If he had spent only a month at Bowie the Orioles could easily use the excuse of him needing more time. Secondly, one can argue GM speak and Elias being disingenuous about the “strong possibility” comment. Why put himself in the spot he is now by using those words? He also got caught up when many took his “ready for liftoff” comment in a certain way. Here’s one possibility. For an Ivy League educated man who’s been around the block a few times, Mike Elias is not as slick and savvy as one would expect. Someone slick wouldn’t let themselves get stuck in these situations. I think Mike Elias generally means what he says but maybe he should reflect on how the fans will interpret his words and choose them a little more carefully.
  5. You make that sound bad. Tyler Glasnow has never pitched as many as 137 in any season.
  6. He’s bringing it up because it’s an example of how finances affect the game. Chourio signed an extension and makes the team. Holliday is not signed to an extension and didn’t make the team. How you go from there to that somehow means Matt Holliday should be telling his son to sign an extension is confusing a lot of people BECAUSE IT MAKES ZERO SENSE !!
  7. Huh? Can someone translate this into logical?
  8. The talks are over. They just bought out one free agent year.
  9. Ok. The gate is wide open. Go for it.
  10. Nope. This thread is about Tony Kemp. It’s already been decided that that spot is going to a marginal player. Don’t act surprised and above all else don’t whine here. You can whine all you want in the “Why didn’t Holliday or Mayo make the roster” thread.
  11. That’s ok. He gave up 4 runs in 4 innings and lost his only postseason start last year too. Number Ones are human too. Maybe this is his year.
  12. I guess they figure that Cowser will get the majority of extra AB’s available in the OF. Any other outfielder on the roster would get very sporadic AB’s. Mountcastle, to your dismay, is getting everyday AB’s with O’Hearn getting some 1B and DH starts. They’ll also rotate Santander and the others through the DH spot. Urias is the primary 3B and Westburg the primary 2B. Mateo gets mostly 2B starts if he’s hitting it looks like. Westburg might move over to 3B on some of those days. That leaves very little for Tony Kemp or whoever the 26th man is. You can disagree with the first 12 position players and their usage but that’s how it looks to me. Seems nonsensical to complain about the 13th guy.
  13. What’s disingenuous? McKenna, Nevin, Kemp. They all have minimal, replacement type value. They play a minimal role on a team. There’s no sense in whining over the 26th man on a team. That’s genuine.
  14. Next, is something about my mother wearing army boots, right?
