  1. We could really use Cease too. The WS had a lineup the other day and I believe everyone or at least 8 guys had a sub 200 BA.
  2. Sure but that doesn’t have to happen immediately. You don’t say, well I’m keeping Kjerstad in the minors because I can only find 8-10 at bats a week for him. That’s enough for the moment. Rather that than 25 at bats in AAA right now. Especially a guy like Kjerstad, who is getting “old” for the minors. Norby is similar as well.
  3. I think most people’s minds are conditioned that a player has to play everyday. We don’t see teams playing a lot of guys some. We see teams that normally put out the same lineups everyday and play the same players most of the time. But the reality is that shouldn’t be the case. We also don’t need young guys to come up and play every single day to justify them being here. They can play 2-4 times a week and get PH appearances. When the player is “old enough” and has nothing left to prove in the minors, you get them up here even if it’s just on a part time basis for a while until things get figured out.
  4. Hays has a spot because of his defense (not great but it’s solid enough) but yea, this is why trades could happen. The Os have valuable guys and clear pitching needs in a year where you are trying to win it all. You have to address those needs and the Os have proven and yet to be established positional talent that they should use to address those pitching needs.
  5. It was the only move to make imo. I get the whole best roster fit thing but his OPs is almost 1200! in AAA and it’s not like he was hot garbage in the majors last year. You had to get the bat here.
  6. Yea, I agree that OHearn is the issue here. To be fair, he should play vs righties until he shows otherwise. That may mean Mounty sits a little more. It may mean that they make sure HK plays vs lefties, since he has hit them well in the minors. If he hits, I think they simply find a way to make sure he gets enough at bats.
  7. The MLB.com list has had Cowser higher…but they are basically the only one over the last year or so. Most have felt Cowser is a top 30-50 guy (although Law and FG didn’t rank him) but now most have Mayo as a top 25 guy. Some even have him top 10.
  8. I actually think it’s on the strap that keeps the guard in place. That’s the first time I saw it. I’m not creative enough to actually come up with it on my own.
  9. He didn’t have a normal spring training. A slow start isn’t surprising. Let’s see where he is in a few weeks.
  10. It was always a better signing than Hader.
  11. No..I think he can play third at this level but he’s on the wrong team to do it. I think he can play first and will be fine in RF. Big dude but moves well. Solid athlete with a rocket arm. I think he has a higher upside with the bat vs Cowser and while Cowser may have an edge defensively, I think Mayo beats him out.
  12. It’s on his guard he wears when batting to protect his arm from a HBP.
  13. Blank check..but not just him. Sig and the often overlooked Eve Rosenbaum should be priorities as well. Now, Eve or Sig may eventually want to run the ship on their own and leave. That’s understandable but I would make it hard for them to leave, like the Ravens did for years with DeCosta.
