No doubt…I think expecting a 600 OPS is realistic early on. A sub 200 OPS is pretty awful. Now, I don’t really care and i would still send him up there everyday. Im just pointing out that you mentioned people having too high of expectations but people should have expected more than 1-25 with 14 Ks. The sample is too small for anything to matter but I don’t think expecting like than what he has done is asking for too much.

That’s a pathetic performance. No other way to describe it. If he is getting crushed and isn’t competitive at all, that’s a terrible sign.

Yea I agree with that. They aren’t just not picking up the option and letting him go for nothing unless he really does go in the tank this year.

I was away for the weekend, so I can’t speak to it myself but I will say based on the SSS I have seen, that I agree with you. But maybe he has shown some range on balls that they don’t feel most get to? Not sure. I wonder if statcast takes into account a potential double play grounder that you boot and only get one out on? Can statcast assume Gunnar makes the throw or that the first baseman catches it?

Arizona has done well with picks, so I don’t mean this to be an indictment on them but you wonder if the Os would have gotten more out of him with how well they are developing guys. That said, there were questions about his bat going into the draft.

He just hits the ball so hard. It’s hard to believe he’s just going to go back in the toilet. He may end up being nothing more than a 300-400 at bat guy and someone you can’t play vs lefties but I’m guessing that’s still a role he will be very solid in. He also seems like a good teammate. I kind of doubt he’s back here next year at 7.5M but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was either.

I just noticed that Holliday’s OAA is 3..3rd best in baseball amongst second baseman. I know it’s a SSS and doesn’t really mean much but damn.

I’m guessing you are crying over nothing and completely misread and misunderstood what he said. Your interpretation of things is probably way off and judging by the actual comment, I’m right.
