  1. That’s not really the right way to look at the Tatis deal. The first 5 years of the deal, the Padres had team control anyway. He got 44M for those years. So, the deal was really a 9/296 extension. That’s about 33M a year. Well over 200M of that is paid after age 30. Im personally not interested in that deal for Gunnar and it would be for more money now too.
  2. I wouldn’t hesitate to give him the Witt deal. I would like to get 3 FA years. That’s my best case scenario and after that, the opt outs start.
  3. Yea that’s a bad miss. Replay can’t miss that. Can understand the ump missing it but not replay.
  4. It’s either the Witt deal or the Tatis deal. No way he’s turning down a similar deal (probably add 10% or so) to what Witt got.
  5. Yea if he is going to hit lefties well, he’s going to be an MVP finalist if he stays healthy.
  6. Hasn’t been pretty? They have barely touched the ball.
  7. The bullpen is hot garbage. There are some capable guys out there and I think we can largely rely on Cano and DC (and obviously Kimbrel) but really, you don’t have confidence in anyone else and even those guys can be shaky. Plus they don’t use DC for enough batters imo.
  8. No, there are times where his stuff is so good that he can get by without excellent command. But to be that good for that long, he’s going to have to come out and have good to excellent command on a pretty consistent basis.
  9. Well good thing I didn’t say he had great command every time. That said, he’s not going to have that level of success (and I don’t just means runs allowed) without having good to great command most of the time.
  10. Prior to last night: 16 straight starts of giving up 3 ER or less. He gave up 2 runs or less in 14 of those 16 starts. 10 of those starts he went 6 or more IP. His K rate is just over 9, the BB is about 2.5 and he has given up just 6 homers in about 96 IP. So I would say pretty often.
  11. I don’t want any of them. 1 win is about 10 runs. In these scenarios, the player is producing zero wins.
