  1. It’s on his guard he wears when batting to protect his arm from a HBP.
  2. Blank check..but not just him. Sig and the often overlooked Eve Rosenbaum should be priorities as well. Now, Eve or Sig may eventually want to run the ship on their own and leave. That’s understandable but I would make it hard for them to leave, like the Ravens did for years with DeCosta.
  3. The 2 most overall talented players in the org are Holliday and Gunnar. Adley is the most important. You can argue that Basallo has the highest ceiling. Mayo is right there with them. This is no shot at Cowser, HK or anyone else. These guys are just that good.
  4. I agree with every word of this post. And to be clear, the guys I really think should see a drastic drop in at bats would be OHearn and Hays. Mounty and Santander would still be 500+ guys but maybe not 600+. It also means that Adley gets less DH time, which I think should be happening anyway. The wild card in this is Mullins. The bottom line is I want him in the lineup everyday because he’s our only true CFer. I want that defense but if he’s really struggling or hurt or something, he needs to lose at bats too. As for trades in season, if the young kids perform, something will get done. He needs pitching. They can actually be buyers and sellers at the same time if they want and it not even hurt them to sell. Thats crazy to think about.
  5. As I said, someone(s) has to go. Over the next few years, you also enter Mayo and Basallo into the picture. Mayo is reportedly shagging fly balls now. They are working on him in the OF. Only a matter of time before he’s in games. But he will play first some and DH some. Basallo will as well. Both have a talent advantage over silent J, Cowser, Stowers, Norby, Beavers, etc… So, some kind of move(s) will need to be made. It’s not a matter of if, it’s when.
  6. This is all very simple. We are just blessed to have Elias and his team here in Baltimore. It’s not just their eye for talent. It’s the methods they use. How they develop, what they look for, etc… Baltimore sports fans have been spoiled for years with the Ravens. An excellent drafting and developing team. They don’t always hit homers but they hit a ton of doubles. It has allowed the Ravens to be one of the best franchises for 25 years and relevant almost every year, especially years when they are healthy. And just think, we haven’t even started to get help from the international signings. What a time to be an Os fan. Oh!! And we have an actual adult as an owner now. Someone who actually gives a sh!t.
  7. This is starting to happen. Love to see it. I want to go back to something I have been saying for a while…the Os have a lot of solid vet bats but none of them should be viewed as everyday guys. I happen to believe that if healthy, Mounty is going to have a career year but I think we need to look at these guys as 300-550 at bats guys…not 500+ for all of them(talking the vets here). By doing that, the young guys get enough playing time to justify being here. And we also can make a trade or 2 as the season goes on, especially to get Mayo here. There is nothing wrong with this approach. It allows you to have your depth, keep everyone fresh and develop your young talent all at the same time.
  8. The last thing you said here is really the key for me. Holliday makes us much better when he is playing where you think he can. So, how does he get better? I said it a little tongue and cheek but it’s true..if his flaw right now is hitting ML pitching, how does he fix that playing in the minors? If there something technically flawed about his swing? Yea, he’s pulling off the ball, ok fine. That can’t be corrected in the majors? The leg kick? Maybe. It’s not like we haven’t seen hitters with high leg kicks be successful. But let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that the leg kick is the issue. Do we want him in AAA working on that or do we want him up here? The Os are one of many teams now that are going to coaches that weren’t necessarily ML players but they are more mechanics coaches. They are like driveline guys now. The duo the Os have up here are like that. They also have those guys in the minors. So, where is he getting the better instruction? I don’t know. I can’t say and that’s where I trust Elias. Like I said, he gets this week and really, more than that for me but I think this week he should get and then you can at least make some decision with more of a sample size. I feel if he goes down, it must be because you feel there is a major change that needs to occur and you want him to do that in a lower pressure environment. I’m not worried about hurting his confidence or anything like that. If he becomes a failure because of this struggle than he wasn’t going to become anything anyway.
  9. The comp is better than Grayson because at least Cowser was a hitter who was struggling and looked to have a hole in his swing. But yea, I don’t think sending him down made him a better player which is the victory people are taking laps on.0
  10. Kjerstad does not have to play every day for him to be here. He should be able to start 3+ times a week. He’s hitting right now so I would get him in the lineup immediately and see if there is any carry over from AAA.
  11. A lot of people didn’t like this signing. It was a few bad outings last year but otherwise, he was very good. He will have some bumps in the road but he’s a very capable guy still.
  12. I realize it…if you realize it, we all realize it. Some of it also realize that fixing at this level is possible and would rather go that route
  13. I could see the As valuing the bat over the short inning reliever who has already had arm issues and is probably destined for TJ surgery sometime in the next 3-4 years
