  1. CBS sports of all outlets has a great article with heat maps and supporting data that just came out an hour ago. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/jackson-holliday-has-struggled-in-mlb-debut-so-far-but-here-are-three-reasons-to-believe-in-orioles-prospect/
  2. This is the same conversation we had last year about Gunner. People wanting to send him down, he’s not ready, etc. Yes he is struggling, but he is also not getting much to hit and the umpires have had an expanded strike zone on him for whatever reason. He needs to be more aggressive early, like Gunnar early last year, he is seeing too many pitches. When Gunnar got aggressive, he took off. He will figure it out and I’m sure there are hitting coaches and tape with advanced data he is going over things with. I’m sure the coaches are seeing the bad calls and are telling him not to get frustrated and stick to the process. I don’t know another 9 hitter that has been beared down on like he has been. He has really had some tough pitching and bad calls. He is going to be fine, just let him work through it.
  3. They are pitching from a point of confidence against him right now. He is also getting some bad calls on strikes. Probably also the first time in 3 or 4 years he isn’t the best player on the team. I’m not worried at all. It is kind of like last year when some people wanted to send Gunnar down, the kid will figure it out. Plus, would you rather have a struggling Holliday or Kemp?
  4. Just some marketing geared towards former/older orioles fans. My 70 something year old dad probably enjoyed it as he is just reengaging after years of disappointment and a more exciting team after last year.
  5. Is this known or speculation? Just curious because I am out of the loop.
  6. I have watched a good portion of Hollidays at bats and the frustrating part for me is he has some called third strikes that are out of the zone. He knows the zone and when he can’t trust the umpire to call it correctly, that may have led to him pushing more and expanding more. I’ve seen a few with Gunnar as well and can see the look on his face when he walks away. Maybe just start punching those away close ones the opposite way and pitchers will stop going 3, 4 inches outside hoping for the call.
  7. At this rate, the orioles will have 5 players in the top 15 prospects in baseball come midseason.
  8. She is fine for tv. We were spoilt with Jon Miller and I harbor that loss greater than losing Mussina. She is not the greatest and I always hope she will get better because she seems like a decent person and she is knowledgeable. That said, I found the legendary Vin Scully insufferable to listen to. He had some great stories, however I don’t need a bedtime story during the game.
  9. Been here long enough to know the rules. If not, they are pinned at the top of the page for you.
  10. Thank you. I don’t remember the rules for time between games and travel and if there is a maximum delay time or any of that.
  11. Is it possible they start around 5 or 6? Looks like there is a good window to get the game in then. Or does that interfere with travel?
