  1. Why run down the tunnel. Did he think Davis would actually makecontact?
  2. Per Forbes, the Yankees revenues in 2018 was $619 mm which topped all of MLB. The Orioles were 21st in MLB with revenues of $252mm. So of course the Yankees have lots of money to spend. The old adage is "Spend money to make money."
  3. There will be no payoff, settlement, or agreement to put Davis out to pasture. He'll get every red cent that is due to him. The Player's Association would not stand for buyout because it would establish a precedent that once in place could come back in the future to "rework" contracts. "Pay the man" or "Play the man." Either way he gets his full pay day. Remember......the Orioles wanted this contract.
  4. If the Prodigal Son returns he'll make Chris Davis look like Ruthian!
  5. This quote really stuck out for me. "Nobody wants to be ridiculed or criticized, but that’s not the world we live in, especially in this game. When there’s such emphasis put on winning and being successful and getting a leg up on the competition." Imagine tha, Chris. There really is an emphasis put on winning. I had no idea.
  6. Did the next 2,500 fans get two of the snow globes? Showalter looks like one grumpy guy in that globe. It's going to scare the children. Smile for the camera.
  7. I'm confident he has the ability and the wherewithal to break the record if he buckles down and sets his mind to it. After all it is a record, right?
  8. Showalter on the Orioles struggles: “From my personal standpoint, my thought process is making the people we have better, getting back to the things we’re capable of. I’m not just going to hang it around one guy. It’s more than that. It’s always easy to switch players and do things, it’s not always easy — but I’m more in tune with the people we have here and trying to get them back on track.” And therein lies the problem. Memorial Day was the target date to evaluate the team and decide a direction to take. But on Sunday Showalter's comment above seems to be saying it's going to turn around and the players ("Buck's guys") will suddenly emerge from their Spring/Summer malaise and get back to being their old selves. It isn't working. It's not a slump. It's badly broken and needs professional attention. This isn't a case of a little flare up on the kitchen stove that can be doused with a damp towel. It's a 4 alarm blaze that needs a full response to save the house. Just as Rome burned while Nero fiddled, . Duquette, Showalter and company are doing the same exact thing. And they're going to wind up standing in the smoldering rubble wondering what the hell happened.
  9. Let him use a Cricket bat. Greater chance making contact with a much larger hitting surface.
  10. You are right. This is from Jerry Crasnick (ESPN). No salary, no All-Star participation, and ineligible for post season. By my count he's out until mid-August. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/996455916370309120?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fbleacherreport.com%2Fmlb&tfw_site=bleacherreport
  11. You make a great point. Cano will sit at home in the DR and collect his full salary while the team pays for his services that he is not allowed to perform because he broke the MLB Joint Drug Policy rules. https://nypost.com/2018/05/15/robinson-cano-suspended-for-peds-in-baseball-stunner/
  12. Frobby....as for your #9, I think the injuries to Davis and Trumbo are actually helping the O's. The team has performed pretty well despite them being MIA.
  13. Hope someone is standing by to re-position those bats. After a great 7-0 start they have only won 4 of their last 11.
  14. Mix things up a bit just for the sake of seeing if a change did anything? A month into the season and seeing him hit in the low .200's it was worth a try before looking for a replacement.
