  1. Which is a problem. This would have improved the team, cost no prospects, and still left the Orioles with a low payroll this year and next, where the rotation is losing at least Burnes.
  2. Yeah but a 2 year deal is way longer than 1. Can't expect the O's to do something crazy like that. It's fine.
  3. Don't know if it's the norm. A couple more weeks in the minors for another year of control? That would seem very advantageous to the club. However, I do think it's starting to get the wrong kind of attention. We are not there yet but, IF there becomes a perception that the Orioles are slow to give MLB opportunities, it could make it harder to sign those young, high profile prospects/amateurs. Also, while I don't agree with the thread about Matt Holliday being upset, I imagine the decision to keep Jackson out of Baltimore right now may come up if/when the Orioles have contract negotiations with him.
  4. Wasn't asked of me... but of course it is. All along, I was confident it would happen so it's hard to be mad about it. Generally speaking, within the current MLB structure, that's smart business. What I will run seriously out of patience on is if the absolute refusal to sign anyone continues with the new ownership. That needs time to work itself out, so we continue to wait, but there is hope the new regime will spend some of the money rather than hoarding all of it. Obviously, a team doesn't need clock games if someone has a long term contract. I'd wager quite a bit that, if Holliday had an 8-10 year deal, he'd be the starting 2nd baseman right now.
  5. Umm... not great. Double, walk, single with a few ground outs.
  6. Yeah, in the bad case, with Burnes and likely Means gone, we'd have GRod, Kremer and lots of hope that some prospects turn out. I surely hope the team spends some money going forward with new owner(s).
  7. Sure. You don't make the roster decisions. This is about service time and nothing else. Elias can't say that so it's fine. I never thought JH or Mayo would make the team. Actions speak louder than words. The part that we might keep Nevin over Wong because the team needs a RH bat though it silly. They both stink.
  8. Shocked. Shocked, I tell you. We're quickly approaching a time where it will be harder to sign kids if they think they'll be denied an MLB opportunity.
  9. Called that a long time ago. I sure hope Rubes opens up his wallet so these roster games can end.
  10. Elias is not making roster/position decisions based on what Cal wants.
