  1. Pretty sure Ray Lewis got his pregame hype schtick from them.
  2. I think Means will ramp up slowly and pitch 100 innings. If all goes well, Bradish is used as an opener for the first half, then slowly ramps up if he's healthy for the playoffs. Or he feels a pop and doesn't pitch at all!
  3. I just watched the condensed game. Looked like we benefitted from a lot of balls getting through their defense. Jorge did botch a possible double play though.
  4. I did not watch this game and I don't doubt the atmostphere was electric. However, I would go with 1989 (which I attended). Cal had a three run homer off Clemens, O's win in extras. I believe the winning play was one of those unusual situations (1st and 3rd, 1 out, game on the line) where the Sox went with a six man infield but Worthington was able to get a ball in the outfield to win the game. Was also significant because we started '88 with the Other Streak and this started us off as winners which carried through into a miraculous season. https://www.mlb.com/video/ripken-s-home-run-off-clemens
  5. Thanks for looking that up. I was not expecting an answer although I was curious. I would have guessed at least a couple more just due to sheer luck if nothing else. Maybe 11+ K's on a consistent basis should be part of the criteria for Ace designation.
  6. wow, I'm not watching but that's a great stat line. Very exciting. How many times did our starter get 11 K's in the last year? How about in the last 5 years. And Burnes has done it in his first start.
  7. Had a feeling we would see Mateo or McCann. SigBot loves to play the matchups.
  8. I hope not. In today's game the outfield starters all need to be able to hit. A player like McKenna, if he has a role, should be there mostly for late inning defense. I would be inclined to bring up Stowers or Kjerstad with Hays or Cowser shifting to center.
  9. We will find out! I would start Cowser with Santander at DH regardless of matchup. If Cowser is on the roster I assume he has mastered hitting lefties at AAA!
  10. That is not how she described the process. She gave a very good explanation that was consistent with the lineups we have seen. She talked about who has input but was very clear that Hyde has the final call.
  11. Elias has already established himself as a GM-speak guy. I would not take anything he says at face value. I will give him credit for turning the franchise around and assume that he has a good reason, whatever it is.
  12. I just don't see the role for him. Westburg and Urias should start against RHP and LHP. He should not punch hit for any of our starters. Mateo can cover any position to give guys rest. He can play defense in blowouts but anyone can do that. Really hope we don't have any games coming down to Kemp off the bench vs their closer!
  13. Westburg hit RHP better in the minors in '22 and '23. Urias has over 1,000 career AB's now. I am not claiming he is a RHP masher by any means, but he can hit RHP and does not need to be platooned.
  14. Interesting take. That is probably the best way to make sense of it. At the end of the day I don't really care who has the last bench spot. Whoever it is, they shouldn't play over Cowser/Westburg/Urias. We can overthink matchups and such.
