  1. My read on that is an additional year lease would be too cumbersome and unnecessary. They really only need an additional month, to allow for the General Assembly to meet in January and approve the development rights deal. A monthly lease would be better suited in this case, assuming the GA approves the terms outlined in the "Memorandum of Understanding".
  2. I think the Orioles will trade for a top-end bullpen arm with a couple years of control. The cost for a reliever being much more palatable for Elias & Sig than trading for starting pitching. I wouldn't be surprised to see it done over the next week.
  3. And when do the Ravens come calling for their turn on the gravy train? Again, my understanding of this is limited, isn't there a provision in these lease deals that the Ravens and Orioles will receive equal concessions? If that is the case, I can't see any way that MOU is ever realized. Imagine having this topic of discussion floating around for the next two years on a temporary lease.
  4. After reading, I could see how the second scenario is plausible. Items #3 and #7 are problematic. They want sole Orioles management and oversight of $600mm of public money? Seems like a great opportunity for embezzlement. And those lease terms in #7 are awfully generous.
  5. I don't know. From my perspective it would be hilariously bad to come out and announce the 30 yr lease being signed on 9/28, only to drag it out to the last days and settle for a short term extension. Just signals to me that Angelos is not dealing in good faith as he pushes for more & more concessions.
  6. Not allowing these matters to be decoupled puts Angelos in a little bit of a pickle then, no? My limited understanding of this issue is that these additional development rights have to be approved by the General Assembly, which does not meet again until January. But the lease needs to be signed by 12/31, lest Angelos and the MSA agree to another short term lease/extension. Not getting a full lease done by 12/31 would be quite the bad look for everyone involved, not that John Angelos seems to give a damn about the veracity of his public statements.
  7. My hope is that the lease and development rights negotiations get split. Sign the lease, or "facilities use agreement", or whatever they want to call it prior to 12/31/23. Then hope that the General Assembly votes no on the development rights issue when they come back in January.
  8. I think a trade gets done for a solid/above average bullpen arm. Throw in another "Kyle Gibson" type, and that's a wrap.
  9. This off-season is a litmus test for ownership, and Elias' ability to spend. I'm not expecting them to break the bank for anyone, but they absolutely need to attempt to make meaningful additions to this team. Whether or not they choose well in Free Agency is one thing, but IMO Elias/Angelos absolutely need to take a swing at it this winter. That said, Gray, or someone around that pay-grade would suffice. I would be very happy with Gray, or if I'm really dreaming, Montgomery.
  10. Wow, this is turning into a rather lousy deal for MD tax payers. I fail to see how the Orioles have so much leverage that has enabled them to extract such concessions. Gov Moore & the new MSA leadership are either a bunch of push overs, or as some posters have alluded to, maybe they have ulterior motives...
  11. I'm not worried about the team moving. Though I do believe Angelos has attempted to explore that route. More that this has turned into a fiasco full of BS that is going to cost the tax payers of Maryland. And the man just won't relent.
  12. Over/under Angelos "actually" signing the lease by Dec. 22.5? This whole thing is so ridiculous, I won't surprised if he takes this all the way up to the week of Dec 31. Any guesses on what JA is still lobbying for? Seemed to me that Moore squashed the potential for further redevelopment rights, but I could have misunderstood.
  13. Today sucks. Definitely ruined my day. But I'm not worried, I have this comforting feeling Grayson is going to be lights out tomorrow. Like two runs will be good enough to win tomorrow.
  14. Hated the decision to pinch hit Frazier for Westburg in the bottom of the 4th. An example of over-managing in the playoffs if you ask me. Not saying it cost us the game, but I think it was short sighted. Westburg was the starter, give the guy a chance at a second plate appearance.
  15. Game 1 - should go to Bradish. I don't think there is any good argument to suggest otherwise. Game 2 - I'm hoping it's Rodriguez. I'll be at that game and that is the guy I want to see most. Game 3 - Probably Means, but Kremer is deserving of the opportunity.
