  1. That was a fun sequence to watch by Mateo and Adley right there. I'm not a Mateo fan, but that was nice.
  2. He's slow, but not as slow as he just showed. He didn't even try.
  3. I know it happens all the time, but I HATE when guys don't run out contact. Santander could have been safe if he's actually ran out of the box IMO.
  4. Urias at first? That's....interesting....
  5. I'm SO glad we have all that positional talent in AAA and a AAA level bullpen in the MLB in many cases....
  6. Sure, I don't mind it either when it makes sense to do so. But sometimes it seems to be blindly followed even when the numbers suggest it shouldn't be. And I don't disagree that you need to have enough numbers so you aren't just dealing with SSS, but as you noted we have more than enough data for Ragan to NOT make it lefty/righty thing in general. And some of our players either don't have bad splits OR we don't have enough data to know if they have split issues. Cowser, for example, his OPS isn't a ton different, but it's a SSS still. While O'Hearn has historically had significant splits. It SHOULD factor in when the numbers show it makes sense. But it seems we follow it even when it doesn't really seem to need followed.
  7. For as 'by the numbers' as we seem to be as a franchise now, it amazes me how sometimes they are stuck in such a lefty vs righty mindset, even when the actual numbers say otherwise, either for a particular hitter or the pitcher in question.
  8. Geez. Hays, Urias, McCann AND Mateo. Why waste a Burnes start with that lineup?
  9. Of those 4, it's Gunnar #1 by a large margin imo. Then Holliday, forward closely by Adley with Burnes a very distant 4th, unless he's willing to do a 3 or 4 year contract. I really don't want to sign Adley for more than a couple of his FA years, and I'm not sure he goes for that.
  10. No, but sometimes he's too quick to make changes. Other times he's not quick enough. Of course it's one of those things a manager really can't win at, but I DO feel he's a bit too willing to let guys keep going when they are doing well.
  11. Holliday seems to be getting closer and getting his timing down. I think we are going to see a minor breakout from him real soon.
  12. Love the lineup, but absolutely HATE O'Hearn in RF. That should NEVER happen, IMO, though we certainly need to keep his bat in the lineup. I'd rather have him in RF than on the bench, if that's the only choice, but I'd rather see Santander in RF or something else done. Minor complaint over all, until he makes a bad play that costs us runs or the game of course.
