  1. Of course, my first thoughts were "uh oh, the timing of this doesn't sound good," for health reasons. Hope he's not ill. That being said, I will not miss his "theeeee yankees wiiiinnnn" at all. In any way. Not one iota.
  2. Possibly, but during the lean years around 2005-2013, it would absolutely drive me nuts to see the BoSox and the NYY take, and take, and take to use up the starter, while we would flail away. I'm kinda taking a liking to this balance they seem to have going - swing early when a guy is known to throw first-pitch strikes, wait for a good pitch to hit otherwise. One other thing is that both Adley and Gunnar were really big on taking pitches when they first came up and had to be retrained to swing more. Cowser did a lot of looking tonight. If they can teach em that any close pitch needs to be fouled off if it's not a pitch they're looking for, I'd sure be a lot happier. (Can you teach that? Or does that only work for guys who can get contact with a ball outside the zone to foul it off?)
  3. Finally caught up. Congrats, Roy, on the 33,000 (or how many ever) posts! It's been a fun game so far. Hope Cano can hold onto things in the 8th.

    Norfolk 2024

The differences are staggering. This now has me thinking a trade for ML or ML-ready pitching has to be pushed back until they can improve these numbers in upcoming series. Sure hope they do. (And thank you for explaining the pitching - I guessed it might have something to do with walks but hadn't made the effort to look up those stats in addition to the Team Notes I received (which are always going to be skewed to accentuate the positive).)

    Norfolk 2024

After seeing all the crazy hitting stats to start the season, I thought this last string of losses had to be pitching woes. But the Game Notes from Tides PR say this kind of stuff: ”the Tides carry an active 17-game streak with at least nine strikeouts by their staff, dating back to September 23, 2023 at Buffalo…Norfolk currently ranks first in the International League in strikeouts with 164.” This surprises me, not gonna lie.
  6. Reminds me of last year’s Padres
  7. Wow. The corner seats were sold.
  8. Can we get people to stop calling for O’Hearn to go the way of Urías and Mateo?
  9. They pretty much do everything well. Anyone bemoaning the loss of Craig Counsell sure has to admit Murphy’s doing a helluva job in his stead.
  10. So that’s the second time in two games I’ve seen 3 disengagements after not remembering it at all last season.
  11. Btw @Moose Milligan did you take a shot there in the 2nd when Ortiz came to bat?
