  1. I fully expected to lose 2 of 3. I've rarely been so happy to be so wrong. Now the stinkin' Jays can begin their inevitable slide to 4th place. Oh, wait...they're already there!
  2. Well...nuts. I guess I got the wrong guy. I'm still certain the 3WE commentator pushed for someone other than Murray in '77, but I don't trust my memory beyond that.It was a long time ago!!!
  3. Loved watching this. As many of you have said, TWIB and the Game of the Week were lifelines to me in those days of three networks (Truth Disclaimer: We could turn the ol' antenna and get stations from Philly and Baltimore as well as WBOC in Salisbury on a good day, but Only Three is more impressive in a "walked uphill both ways to school" kind of way ) so seeing the guys I'd only heard and read about was a treat. And, figuring batting averages and ERA prompted me to see and love what could be done with numbers. I'd give credit to sports for any interest in geography I had as well ("Where the heck IS Green Bay? Let's see.") so it was an educational time-waster. Regarding Eddie's ROY, I remember listening to WWWE radio in Cleveland at work late at night, and there was an old blowhard there who was annoyed that his guy, Super Joe Charboneau, didn't get it! Homer.
  4. You know what would be cool? A line chart or something showing this progression vs. other teams. Maybe just the playoff contenders; 30 lines would be kind of a mess. I get the feeling most of the others would track pretty wildly up and down, with the O's line running straight through the middle of them.
