  1. Yeah, I feel like the approach by some here is the same as Little League coaches at the end of the year when all the good players have already gotten theirs. "Great job by Timmy, in the 2nd he made a great slide."
  2. I like the thread idea, but the game ball from last night should 100% go to Suarez. That was peak exciting Mateo for sure but it's not really a debate for me who was more influential.
  3. Cowser, to me, was clearly mentally struggling. You could see it on his face, in his body language, in his movements on the field. I fully supported sending him back down at the time. I personally don't see the same thing with Holliday. Maybe a little hesitation in the field, but that also could be learning a new position. But he seems composed, you see him in the dugout and he doesn't seem down on himself. He celebrates with his teammates when good things happen. He's generally not up there fishing for bad pitches. I don't get the impression that he's in over his head at all from a mental standpoint. I'd say it's a combination of around 40% not quite ready, 40% just a badly-timed slump, and 20% luck. He had some really tough calls go against him early on that made his ABs a lot more difficult. End of the day I don't really care what they do. I wasn't clamoring for him to come up and I'm not going to be upset if he goes back down. But I see no evidence that he needs some sort of reset.
  4. Anderson's ERA is good but his peripherals aren't great. Not super scared by that ERA. Detmers has been good though. Be nice to get some payback on him if we can.
  5. I said earlier in the thread that 2 of 3 would be a great result, and certainly stand by that. Glad to be done with both them and MIL for the year.
  6. It's semantics obviously. I agree that questioning if he's ready is fair. I think saying anything definitively after 32 PA is not. He did hit one yesterday right on the screws in a big spot. If that ball goes 2-3 feet in either direction the conversation today is probably a little different. He looked bad against the lefty reliever, but I expect him to look bad against pretty much all lefty relievers at this point in his career.
  7. If he hit that ball 3 feet to the left or right it's a base hit. That was a good AB, just unlucky. And he had zero chance to make that play on the bunt single.
  8. Better ABs today. Hit a rocket right to 2nd in his 2nd AB. I expect him to struggle against lefty relievers. Keep sending him up.
  9. Did we watch the same interview? He didn't laugh. I will say I couldn't tell if he was being serious or deadpan but either way I thought it was all a bit much.
  10. Not mad. I said I thought it was weird. Still do. And it didn't sound tongue in cheek at all to me. He sounded legit mad at Cowser for it.
  11. Ok, I guess. I just don't really get it. I mean if he at the all time record or something, sure. But because he moved into 4th or 5th place or whatever? Gonna throw one of your young players under the bus like that for that? Not the approach ib would take for sure.
  12. I thought that was weird. Is it Cowsers job to know that he tied some number? And even if he did, is it common to save a ball because you moved into like 6th place or something? Just seemed to me like coming down on a rookie for no reason.
  13. Agree whole-heartedly on Gunnar and Burnes. Holliday vs. Adley is a tough call. Adley loses a fair amount due to being a catcher but I still think there's a level that he hasn't unlocked yet. Right now I think I'd take him over Holliday, but ask me again at the end of this year.
  14. After his Cy Young performance against us, Marsh was very pedestrian in his next 2 starts. Be nice to take tonight's game with Ragans pitching tomorrow. 2 out of 3 would be a great result.
  15. DocJJ must be the guy the surgeons send out to talk to the family when the operation didn't go well.
