  1. Santander. Cowser plays every day in RF.
  2. Why would they sign him to a guaranteed contract worth 1 mil if they intended to release him after a month? This just makes no sense and reeks of Odor and Frazier. At least those guys had some upside with the bat.
  3. We'll be begging for Adam Frazier after watching this guy at the plate. Really hope this is Triple A depth rather than a signing for the big league team? But hey, it can't much worse than carrying Nevin.
  4. I would take him at 1/25 or 2/40. That's the new going rate for a number 2 or 3 starter, which is what he is. I think it's tough to get your head around the money, but then you gotta look around the rest of the league and see what guys are getting paid.
  5. Pretty shocked that Nevin made the team. Not a huge McKenna fan, but I see more value there as a RH hitter who can play center and spell Mullins once a week. Is he going to be used as the LHH half of a platoon with O'Hearn? I would prefer to see Santander at DH and Cowser in the OF on those days, but they may not want Cowser facing lefties.
  6. MLB TV is $150 for the season ($130 if you only want to pay for one team) a good VPN only runs about $5/month. We just got rid of cable and this seemed to be the best approach.
  7. It will be interesting to see how often he plays. He could play nearly every day if Hyde is willing to rotationally sit Hays/Mullins/Santander/O’Hearn/Mounty If you platoon O’Hearn/Mountcastle, then Santander is your DH and that opens up an everyday spot for Cowser in RF. This is what I’d like to see although hard to imagine Mountcastle being reduced to the weak side of a platoon.
  8. McKenna appears he will make the team as the fifth outfielder. Do we need a fifth outfielder? Hard to imagine him getting many at bats, unless Hyde plays him over Cowser. Could be in there against some tough lefties with Mullins sitting. I would have rather seen Kjerstad or Mayo considering we have a few guys capable of playing center.
  9. Anyone else having an issue with the mlbtv link when you try to purchase the season package? The link is not found….404 error message.
  10. I'd be fine with trading Urias. I rather have him as my utility infielder than Mateo though. One of them needs to go IMO. I don't see how Holliday and Mayo both fit into roster without that happening and it's tough to imagine them not both being on the club by the end of May. Perhaps Mountcastle could be traded, but I see this as an unlikely scenario. Urias or Mateo should be very easy to move. Take whatever decent bullpen arm you can get, or just cut them loose.
  11. Moving next week from DC to Fairfax County and finally fed up with cable and the price increases that I want to try the combination of MLBTV package plus VPN. Anyone who has gone the same route have a good VPN recommendation?
  12. I think you probably could for the first ten days of the season. We don't need a fifth starter until April 7th.
  13. I want the extra year. Particularly when it means that Mayo or Cowser could make the team. If we did not have other great options for our 25 man roster, I would look at it a little differently. There is too much to gain and too little to lose by sending Holliday down to Norfolk for a few weeks.
  14. Holliday and Mayo likely don't both break with the team without some trades occurring. The scenario I presented has Holliday (the younger, less experienced prospect) starting in Norfolk. Don't think it's that much of a reach.
  15. Clear is debatable? But your starting infield could theoretically be 1B Mountcastle/O'Hearn, 2B Westburg, SS Henderson, and 3B Mayo. The 1B and DH also gives Mayo some flexibility to get starts there. Under this scenario, Urias is my utility infielder and Mateo is backing up CF and SS but primarily used as a pinch runner and late defensive replacement. The challenge then could then be finding a spot for Kjerstad. Also have to consider that not every position player projected for the big league roster is guaranteed to be healthy on OD. So additional spots could open up.
