I don't understand what the Orioles are going to do with their log-jam of hitters unless they trade some of them. I think Westburg and Kjerstad being traded would clear that up, so that's how I voted.
I think basically the issue comes down to the fact that O'Hearn and Hicks are playing great, Frazier has been servicable, and Mateo has value as a fantastic defender and SB threat. I understand the frustration but remember all these guys are human beings and the organization doesn't want to be ruthless with their players. As long as O'Hearn and Hicks are hitting we likely won't see any changes.
I watched the whole game. Seemed to make a concerted effort to pitch fastballs lower in the zone early. Control looked better than any of his starts in Baltimore this season. He was also up against a lineup with many major leaguers like Franchy Cordero and Wilmer Difo, as well as great prospects. Impressive!
Man, I really like Melanie. I think she's an overall talent and I think MASN is lucky to have her. I haven't noticed that her play-by-play is bad, it seems fine to me.
Frazier did have one of the highest Line Drive rates for hitters over the last few years. The new rules seem to favor LD hitters as the infielders can't play on the outfield grass anymore. May have had something to do with that and then got lucky with the power surge.
Obviously Grayson has had some disappointing outings, but wow does he have an impressive pitch arsenal. Fastball, sweeper, and change up all seem to be plus pitches.
Kyle Gibson is not Jordan Lyles 2.0. Gibson is coming in with ~4.00 xFIP last 2 seasons, Lyles was coming in with ~5.00. I don't get the disappointment, he's a good pitcher and if we improve something with him he would move toward being a great pitcher.
