  1. Some generous called strikes for Akin. I think the ump was trying to put the angels out of their misery.
  2. I'm fine with it. He only can do that on opening day or maybe a day after if the player keeps hitting. Hunter could call out a 2 game hitting streak all season.
  3. I'd settle for this. https://what-if.xkcd.com/1/
  4. There's no pitch level data for that game. Only reason I thought to look it up is because they put a graphic on the game feed about most Ks on OD. Bundy was 2nd (now I think he's 3rd.)
  5. I'd be more worried about a catastrophic injury. Not really worried about him wearing down.
  6. McNally in 1970, 13 Ks, CG with 2 runs allowed. Still, good company.
  7. Like zero. Too many pitches already. And its not a shutout. If he were at like 50-55 pitches thru 5 maybe. But pitchers are usually on a pitch count on opening day.
  8. I haven't seen Burnes pitch much and I just noticed he's like one of the very few starters that pitches from the stretch with the bases empty. I see it with relievers but not much from starters. Though a lot of starters are simplifying their windup and barely take a step.
  9. This is kind of a pointless semantics debate, but I don't have a problem calling it a collapse. If you want to be more specific, "collapsed because a pillar got knocked down" would be appropriate.
  10. Do we think the O's would call Holliday up before the 15 day window to be eligible for PPI, if say, he OPSes 1.2 in AAA in 2 weeks, and mashes against some lefties in the process? Do we think we call him up early? Do you think we call him up early if he gives us a 7th year in an extension?
  11. i don't know how to feel about this, we let Gunnar on the big club out of camp, Adley got hurt in the spring and forced us to send him down to finish his spring, and we kept Holliday down. I don't see a clear pattern of keeping prospects down, but it's hard to understate the value of the extra year of control, so I'm sure it played a role.
  12. I believe if he's an injury replacement he can come up before the 10 days. He also is still eligible for PPI as long as they recall him within 15 days and he spends the remainder of the season on the active roster.
