  1. OK, this political stuff is nauseating. Please get to Rubenstein already.
  2. Looking forward to watching this later. Looks like a good follow on to the 101 documentary.
  3. Another poll that’s closing at noon today. I went with the Rays. They just always seem to exceed expectations.
  4. Bump…just a reminder that this poll closes at noon today. Weigh in if you haven’t already done it!
  5. Nah. CEO has too many responsibilities on the non-baseball side of things. I want Elias running baseball operations, not figuring out what promotional agreements to reach, etc.
  6. Yes, that was interesting. I hadn’t realized that DR wouldn’t take the CEO role himself, but given his far-flung business empire, it makes more sense to hire a full time CEO. That will be an interesting hire for sure. DR has a lot of experience hiring top execs to run companies, so hopefully he’ll bring in someone talented.
  7. It’s a bittersweet day, for sure. But I’m glad Brooks lived to see most of the 2023 season. Now hopefully the team can make some new memories for the younger generation of fans.
  8. I wonder if patient bargain hunters will be rewarded. Does anyone have an opinion on that?
  9. That’s a very underwhelming list.
  10. Another thing I noted is that DR has already addressed the staff. Great to hear he took care of that before doing things like holding a press conference.
  11. I’m not into using the word “hate” to describe fans who don’t think a player is very good. However, count me in the group who thinks McKenna would fit our current roster better than Kemp or Nevin.
  12. Two moments I found interesting and enjoyable. At about the 12 minutes mark, DR said the job of the front office and manager is to “put the best players on the field, train them properly, and make sure that they’re adequately compensated.” And then at the end, Cal said “they have a good chance of making the playoffs” and DR interjected “WE do.” DR made an interesting point about getting African Americans in Baltimore more interested in playing and following baseball. He said only 4% of fans at Camden Yards are African American. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the short “Next Chapter” video features an African American girl delighting in thumbing through an Orioles scrapbook. I bet you are going to see the Orioles really stepping up the efforts to get local kids to games and to build interest inside the city.
