  1. That seems really weird to me. That’s been a pretty good pitch for him for years. I’ll have to watch his next start more closely.
  2. I see that the O’s are continuing to play Kjerstad at 1B about twice a week. He hasn’t made any errors there (or in the OF) since his egregious drop in the opening game. But, I wonder if he’s looking any better overall.
  3. Well, I agree with that. But it doesn’t really matter who any of the fans are counting on.
  4. Well, last year he had both a cutter and a slider. In the first two months, he was having trouble commanding the slider and was using the cutter way too much. When he returned, he’d almost completely ditched the cutter and had regained command of the slider. So he’s definitely got a slider.
  5. Was there something wrong with his 2021 season? Why are we talking about 5 years ago?
  6. To the contrary, Mays is a famous example of when a manager stuck with a young player despite his early struggles. Not sure what the story was with Mantle, but he didn’t have any big struggles.
  7. I am guessing the extension only works when the player is rehabbing directly following recovery from surgery. That was the case with Hernandez. But in Means’ case, he pitched in four major league games, pretty effectively, after his 2023 rehab stint. So I doubt this would count as a post-surgery rehab. I guess we’ll find out.
  8. I hope the O’s don’t give them a reason to stop talking about it. I agree it gets tiresome when you recall the painful playoff sweep, which was far more meaningful than any regular season sweep would have been. But we may as well keep the regular season streak going as long as humanly possible.
  9. I’d be happy to be wrong. But I wouldn’t bet that way.
  10. They can always conclude he’s not recovered and put him back on the IL, so long as they think they can justify it. And wildcard seems to think they can petition to extend his rehab. I’ve never heard of that but wildcard says Texas did it previously.
  11. The O’s will be swept by somebody this year. And I guarantee that when it’s happening, half the posters will act like the end of the franchise is at hand. But good teams typically get swept a couple of times a season.
  12. I am neither a Means defender nor a Means detractor. He’s been valuable in the past, including his short stint last year. This rehab has not gone well. Hopefully it will improve. We aren’t going to activate him if he isn’t ready to help the team.
  13. They were obnoxious. And I only saw bits and pieces of it, because I was traveling at the time. However, this is pretty much a completely different team, so who cares.
  14. Lacks a slider? When he’s pitching well, his slider is very good.
