  1. theres so many good looking prospects ...several could fail and the Orioles would STILL have the best prospects in their teams history...maybe as good as 1970...with Baylor, Merv, May, Motton, Grich and others...
  2. Sure, he had the picks...but SO many of his picks are impressing...Today Stowers became the first ST hitter to hit 3 HR in a game in almost exactly 6 years...then theres Cowser hitting .364...Mayo with a .366 BA and 7 doubles...Holliday hitting.300...Basallo a young impressive prospect...and dont forget Kierstad, and Westburg, Norby. to go with Gunnar and Adley......and I think McDermott has a chance to be decent too...I think Rubinstein needs to extend Elias almost as much as any young player...this man has a great eye and judgement for talent...and so does his analysts...we NEVER had this kind of FO in player personnel since he Dalton, Cashen years...Im just so impressed..and theres STILL a chance someone else could surprise too..this is truly an embarrassment of riches..
  3. That was Coby Mayo's first HR as an Oriole...trust me..it wont be his last...
  4. Some of you MAY have seen this before...but some didnt. Forgive the fact that its a couple of years old...this piece is the story of Coby Mayo and how he escaped a horror of a school shooting and continued to play baseball in high school and beyond with a focus and a desire to succeed. Im very proud of this story...I hope you will watch...Again,its a bit dated...but his story is truly timeless...
  5. Couple of decent players wore that number....some guy named Willie Mays..and someone else named Ken Griffey Jr....dont know if you all remember them...
  6. In his memory of his childhood hero, Kobe Bryant who wore #24. We know Coby wouldn't be able to wear #8....Kobe wore that too...in fact, Kobe Bryant is the only Pro Athlete to have two numbers retired from the same franchise...
  7. The biggest improvement manager Brandon Hyde has noticed from Coby Mayo is his defense. The infielder, who mainly plays third base, has taken leaps forward on that front. Hyde had already seen the potential Mayo has with a bat in his hands. "He's come a long way defensively," Hyde said. "The power in batting practice is ridiculously impressive. ... But his defense has stood out. He's made big strides defensively." So far, Mayo has shown off both sides of his game in his first few opportunities. He doubled in his first at-bat of the spring and added two singles and a walk two days later. On Tuesday, Mayo powered a ball foul down the left-field line and finished the long at-bat with another walk before driving an RBI double later in the game.--Baltimore Sun
  8. My Rabbi is a Yankee fan...so I became agnostic...I cant wait for the early headlines ..."Yankees cant hold the Mayo....Bombers lose 6-2"
  9. I'm talking about speed for a big man...he's 6'5. 220..and definitely runs well...He got down the line and second base pretty quickly in that clip...he also hustles...He's plenty fast enough...
  10. I reserve the right to be the Coby Mayo spokesperson on this page..I reported his story 4 years ago...I know the family and Coby I will share what I am allowed to share...but he's gonna be MY guy to watch this year...
  11. Some of you MAY have seen this...I hadn't...Coby's dad sent this to me tonight...watch and be impressed...this kid is gonna rake...and run too...
  12. I'll just offer my opinion. I DO think I know something about broadcasting, if that matters. But my opinion is, Kevin Brown is the best Oriole PBP man since Jon Miller. He's to me..an absolute gem of a talent.
