  1. Probably as tough a night as Bradish's yesterday was encouraging. I think it'll be found some persistent aspect of the injury he's now rehabbing is somehow at the root of this ineffectiveness....otherwise I'm not sure what happens when the rehab assignment clock runs out.
  2. It'll be interesting to see if he goes Sunday or Tuesday from here. Sunday might crack the door on a return during the Yankees series if he then went on Friday 4.26 and Thursday 5.2. I think they'll wait until next Tuesday though.
  3. Welcome to the last Arm with options top rung Mr. Dillon Tate. Same as Hays is moving through some career transition, Orioles on the rise perhaps make Tate a 2024 Up-Down guy despite him having a couple nice full seasons in his career. Elias maybe won't have done his job well if by post trade deadline it hasn't gotten to a point he's had to risk losing guys like Irvin, Webb and Baumann. Cionel's oblique should get a nice healthy healing period.
  4. I think today you lean playing your first string for the experience against the kind of pitchers they are likely to see in the playoffs. Friday in the Alec Marsh rematch, play anyone you want. Saturday in the Cole Ragans rematch, I hope they don't hide Holliday. Learn by doing.

    2024 Marlins

Buster Olney had this detail on an action by new GM Peter Bendix. I suppose this makes Schumaker about as clear an impending FA as a manager can get. I hope Bendix and Schumaker agreed this was an okay action, and he'd see the year through while Bendix learns the org and figures out his Brandon Hyde character. The Miami Marlins, meanwhile, are 3-14, with a -36 run differential and about half of their projected pitching staff on the injured list, from Sandy Alcantara to Eury Perez. Additionally, the Marlins made the strange decision to void their 2025 option on manager Skip Schumaker, who is already regarded as one of the more coveted managers in the sport; there is an industry assumption that Schumaker will be headed elsewhere after this season.
  6. Rafael Devers and Garrett Whitlock both with early game exits tonight. Oblique the early report on Whitlock, and Devers' shoulder had been rested over the weekend before Patriots Day return yesterday.
  7. Beltre's career finish was bananas. He was scuffling when Pujols was PUJOLS, but by the end Beltre made it about 90% of the way to him on career achievement as the DR's two greatest bats so far. Ripken's comment was also tone deaf as it was a couple months into Manny flashing like he was going to be a great 3B too. 2013 Machado in his first full year would have one of the very best 3B seasons of the century, though Beltre also had some as good. Physicality and all, I guess Gunnar and Westburg are better than all of them.
  8. He could have just said Beltre was the best if he wanted to broadcast his independence for a national audience.
  9. Orange colored glasses, this feels a little Dodgers-y. It is fairly well known when his tank will empty, so maybe they've made a quick decision he isn't going to cut it in the rotation and are churning while he catches his breath and re-gears. Case against though, the staff does need the innings now.
  10. Look at the difference Adley made when he arrived. Did you know we haven't been swept in the regular season since he arrived? You take a Jackson Holliday off a AAA roster, its just not the same. At least he still upholds the farm ranking for another odd month of games.
  11. It feels bad as absent there being another onion layer here I'd guess the end of this homestand is a little bit of a chapter end with respect to the Rubenstein group having a signature splash in its opening weeks. Fun ad, but its soy not steak. I get ownership wanting to deploy the Ripken brand working to win back fans remembering the good old days.
  12. Getz chose Padres arms over Orioles bats - seeing today that 6 shutouts in 16 games has not happened since the dead ball era.
  13. Twins have Larnach in LF batting 5th. https://www.mlb.com/starting-lineups
  14. Elias had to pay with somewhat strong blue chips for Corbin Burnes, but generally those front offices have had some good outcomes piecing together a lot of iffy pieces to get the big rental Arms for championship pushes. I'm hoping the Orioles have as good a fortune with a few of their "Seth Beers" this summer.
  15. Previewing the Altoona bats, one time Zack Greinke trade component Seth Beer was the most familiar name. I guess he's Crash Davis'ing in AA at age 27. Luhnow-ian GM's would like to trade you 4-5 guys (24 years of Club control!!) for a short term lease on one of the world's best pitchers.
