I know I am excited. Thought I would start a thread to acknowledge as the World Cup thread was great fun. So let's have at it, who do you like and dislike? And this is not meant to disclude other European Leagues at all.
Ever since the World Cup ended, I've been playing a ton of FIFA 2010 on XBOX. I've been playing with a few teams, but one of my favorites has been Atletico Madrid en la Primera Division en la Liga BBVA (highest Spanish league).
Good choice of a team to root for? I'd really like to follow soccer some more.
Also, it may be good for me to pick an EPL team too.
I play Fifa all the time. Atletico is actually my favorite Spanish team to play with: Aguero, Simao, Forlan, etc. They have a ton of fire power and are a ton less redundant than either of the big two teams.
I am a big Newcastle fan, so I am biased, but root for Newcastle. Great history, great stadium, great uniforms, passionate fans, etc but have languished a bit as of late (sound familiar?- the O's of the EPL).
Yeah, I didn't really wanna hop on the Big Four bandwagon that so many people do (for EPL). And I love playing with Forlan in that game, so that's how I came across Atletico. From the little that I've read on the team (on Wiki), they seem successful but not a powerhouse year in and year out.
Made up for tomorrow the real footy starts now. I'm a pre Istanbul Liverpool supporter, last year was awful, between the owners lies and obviously the horrendous results on the pitch, not qualifying the for the knockout stages of the champions league, Nando and Stevie not being fit for the better part of the season, this day couldn't come fast enough. Could be some better days ahead with what it looks like new owners on the horizon, the signing of Joe Cole and keeping Nando and Stevie, better days ahead indeed. I'm optimistic so here are my predictions in order 1. Chelsea 2. United 3. Citeh 4. Liverpool 5. Arsenal 6. Spurs.
C'mon Newcastle.
I agree wholeheartedly. I half expected them to get awarded a pk when Scholes fell over a blade of grass in the box early on in the 2nd half. To be honest though, Newcastle was never gonna win. Shame Carroll could not convert that corner or else the game may have gone differently, but probably not.
I think alot of people are writing off Liverpool this season. I think they have a big bounce back season and the top 4 all finish within touching distance of one another.
1. Mancs
2. Chelsea
3. Liverpool
4. Arsenal
5. Spuds
6. Citeh
18. Wigan
19. West Brom
20. Blackpool
Can't believe Scholes didn't get sent off for a few of those tackles but after all I reckon it is Scholes, he bossed that game by the way. Liverpool's success will hinge on Torres if he's fit we should be able to get back into the top four. Not sure what the heck Citeh are doing buying Milner for a reported 16-18 million plus add on's plus Stephen Ireland, who I'd have over Milner all week in a straight swap, cannot wait for the implosion of Citeh.
I can't stand Chelsea...thanks to West Brom for giving them an even easier time in the goal differential department to start off the campaign!
Ah, Newcastle...right across from the Stadium of ****e....Good for them to be back topside this season, though.
6-0 over Aston Villa! Holy crap!
