Great result for the Mags after the past week. On another note, I have not watched L'Pool much this season, but that was not a good performance from them. Although Torres really should have scored early on in the second half. Campbell had a horrible game. I will be glad to see him back on the bench. Carroll looked up for it though- I did not know he had that in his arsenal. He shots, he scores, he'll break your f---ing jaw. Andy Carroll.
I saw again in the Sunday papers that Donovan is again linked with a move to the Northeast. I presume it would be a temporary loan until MLS starts back up, but I have to say I am intrigued.
Same old story with Woy's liverpool this season, can beat anyone at home but sits back and absorbs pressure doesn't press the ball at all away. Torres had a total of 27 touches saturday. Dirk Kuyt who is supposed to be on the right side of midfield was playing alongside Maxi our left midfielder at times. No width at all. Our best attacks came from our RB. Sad. In Roy's past 27 away games he's had 1, one, win and that was at Bolton earlier this season. He's a muppet who think Liverpool should only be in the top half of the table he's said as much on saturday. He's tearing apart the club and making one of the best strikers in the world chase hoofballs and look like a pub player.
I agree about the lack of width. I was worried about Liverpool's quickness in midfield vs Newcastle's lack thereof going into the game. It did not come to fruition. I also have to say, I think Liverpool got some pretty favorable decisions by the referee. Kyriakos nearly took Rangers head off with his foot and also Johnson to Barton (although Barton scored). There was also the handball in the first 5 minutes of the game that was not called. Well on the bright side, Sam Allyrdyce is now available.![]()
If you like Fat Sam follow him on twitter it's a riot. There are a lot of things that aren't called when big guys are clanging around. Fair play to Newcastle though they had a plan and stuck to it, Roy had no answer for Carrol. Ranger changed the game when he came on there was about a 15 minute spell where we were pinned back in our own half and couldn't even hoof it away.
How 'bout Stu Holden!?
Welcome to the thread mate. You a Bolton supporter or just follow Americans abroad? And yeah, he has been playing great for them- they are my team of the season. Who would have predicted Bolton as a top 6 or so side before the season or in previous seasons? Holden has been a big part as why they have been so good.
Thanks, and to answer the question: a little bit of both. Primarily, I'm a Fulham fan, due to Dempsey, but they've been borderline unwatchable this season (at least in the games I've seen). They desperately need Zamora back. Dempsey just isn't cut out for that role.
After watching a few of Bolton's games, I've started following them more closely, partly because Holden's been a pleasure to watch, but also because I'm going to need an extra team to follow if Fulham gets relegated. That 5-1 thrashing they gave Newcastle was my favorite EPL game of the season, so far.
I only get to watch two or three games a week, though; whatever I catch on Fox Soccer Channel or ESPN Deportes. Because of ESPN Deportes, I watch a little La Liga, too. Anybody catch the Barcelona/Real Madrid game a few weeks back?

You mean the football porn? That was the most complete footballing display many of us will ever see. Barca attempted some 900 passes in their last la liga match. It's incredible.
Look at their squad, its just not fair. Their whole squad could walk into any team in the world. Of the bunch I really enjoy watching Dani Alves play. Dude is amazing. I remember when he was still at Sevilla- Sevilla ran the whole team through him at right back. I have never seen anything like that before- a team running the way they play through a wingback (I guess that's what you would call him). And now that they have had some time to gel, its just not fair how adept they are. Everyone keeps going on about how Fabregas is going to go to Barca; if he went he would not get a game. This is the best midfielder in England. Says alot really.
As for Bolton, I am impressed. I am anxious to see them again at St James. Joey Barton was a big miss for us in that game, but of what I watched (only 1/3 of the game) Newcastle could not handle Bolton's physical play. Good up and coming team to follow I think. What a world of difference they are now from a few seasons ago.
Talking about Americans abroad, Edson Buddle is on trial at Birmingham City.
It's hard to pick out any single player in that game; everyone gelled so completely. Xavi and Iniesta just absolutely ran the midfield. As gallden said, best display of soccer I've ever seen.
That's exciting. I hadn't heard about that. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why Bob Bradley played Findley over Buddle the entire world cup, especially after Buddle had the strong showing in the warm-up matches.
Bunch of matches cancelled today, I guess because the supporters don't know how to drive in the snow.
That Everton/Man City match was awesome. Great saves from Howard, and Distin defended like a madman. Certainly wasn't pretty soccer, but it was intense the whole way through.
