    Terps outlook/Preview?

Anyone know where to get a good outlook or preview on the upcoming Terps football team?

    Tony,

I personally like www.insidemdsports.com for my Terps football, basketball, and especially recruiting info. I bought the "premium" for $5/month, but I'm pretty sure you can get almost all of the content except the recruiting stuff for free.

Insidemdsports is definitely the place to go if you're looking for a message board. It's the Hangout of Maryland sports, but with much less forum moderation.

If you really want some great Terps coverage, Testudotimes.com is incredible. It's my go-to for anything Terps sports. Plus, it's all free. The content is better than Insidemdsports, but it doesn't have a message board. If they haven't already put out an in-depth football preview, they'll be doing so, soon.

Not looking good as far as TE's go. First Watson is lost for the season, then Yeatman, and now Campbell is out for up to a month.

Sadly, SI pickes them 1-7 in the conference and 3-9 overall.

I'll stick to my prediction of 4-8 (2-6 ACC). I think they win the Morgan St, FIU, Virginia and Duke games. If they can stay mostly healthy and catch a couple breaks, I think they can beat Wake and NC St too, to go 6-6 and get a bowl invite. If they have lots of injuries like last season and struggle to win close games, worst case scenario could be another 2-10 season.

I agree with Steele that the defense could be better than many expect. But the OL and QB have me too hesitant to hope for anything better than .500 this season.

Here's the question I would have: What does everyone think the Terps would have to do this year for Friedgen to keep his job?

Not whether or not you think he should, but what they have to do. So 5-7? Winning record and bowl game? Miracle BCS run? No chance at all?

It's totally up in the air right now with the new president not in place for several months and no permanent AD named yet. It all depends on the views of those two. If the money had been there, Fridge would have been gone after last season. But there was no financial support among the boosters to buy out Fridge's last two years, and using University general funds to do so would have been a political bombshell, with Gov O'Malley even commenting publicly about it. After this season, it will only cost half as much to do so. But will there be more support among the major boosters? I think anything less than a bowl game and the answer will be yes. If the boosters still don't want to fire him will the new pres and AD dip into general funds, which will certainly still be a politically unpopular move, so early in their tenures? I doubt it. Could they scrape together enough money from Athletic Dept. revenues to pull it off? Maybe....but that will be money that is taken away from somewhere else. And I won't even broach the subject of James Franklin's buyout....that just makes it even more complicated. Thanks for that, Debbie.

It will be very interesting. Stay tuned.
