    Russia and Qatar

They host the World Cup in 2018 and 2022, respectively. Seems kind of strange that Qatar won, with the heat and its location.

This is some BS. I'm surprised they went Russia over England when England hasn't hosted it since the 50's and not to mention Putin didn't even bother showing up to make a pitch for Russia. Then to go with the Qatar over U.S. is even worse. Too hot, too small, just a bad decision.

If I have money by that time I will totally go to the one in Russia. This is awesome.

Also Qatar really made this a big deal. I was watching Arab tv in Italy (only thing available) and had commercials where they were building sick stadiums.

They definitely have the money, but security and heat has to be a major concern.

Can someone explain why Russia gets the Winter Games and World Cup in a span of 5 years?

The same reason Brazil gets the WC in 2014 and the Summer Olympics in 2016. Who knows.

Qatar is a joke. Sure they have the money, but the country is the size of Connecticut. No stadiums are built, and I cannot see how their hotels/airports can suffice. Not to mention the security issues.

As a soccer fan all I can say is that I am majorly disappointing. Really Russia and Qatar? There must be some money involved in these votings and I read that some countries might go to court.

Agreed 100%. Its almost like FIFA has an agenda against the English speaking. I am all for spreading the game, but Qatar is seriously 100 miles long.

4,400 square miles. For comparison, Delaware is 2,400 sq. miles. Connecticut is 5,500. And then, we deal with security and heat issues.

Yeah, it'll be like 120+ in the stadiums. It's going to be a major issue.

9 of the 12 stadiums haven't even been built. Yes they have the time to do it, but this is just wasteful. They'll spend all of this money to get them built have them used for a month and then what??? They'll just be sitting around going to waste.

They said that all stadiums will have a climate control system that for the fans and players it will feel like 75F. That nobody thinks about the environment and additional costs of that makes it even more ridiculous.

    Shame on FIFA!

Right I've read various places that they'll be able to move these stadiums and the units that cool them. Can you imagine keeping something 75 with the sun baking down on essentially what is a giant bowl.
