This is definitely true. Countries like Brazil, between their population and the fact that soccer is the sport there, would still be very tough to dethrone, but I think the US will be one of the major soccer powers in the next 15-20 years. I disagree with your earlier post that soccer isn't catching on. I see EPL jerseys everywhere and on the 28th I felt like half my neighborhood either had a Barcelona or Man United jersey. It's definitely growing in popularity.
Regarding the 2022 World Cup: Bring to the US or send it to Australia. Either one is fine. Just get it the hell out of Qatar. That would be a disaster. Drinking is heavily restricted there. I would consider going to Russia or Brazil or Australia for a cup, but I'm definitely not going to spend thousands of dollars to visit Qatar.

Good article. Gives you some hope, but also makes you realize that we're practically one of Blatter's croniesIs a revote for the World Cup '22 host back on the table? Not yet, but it could be down the road. The strongest indication yet came on Wednesday when German federation president Theo Swanziger called for an investigation of the controversial vote that gave Qatar World Cup '22. "There is a considerable degree of suspicion that one cannot sweep aside," Swanziger said. "This needs to be examined anew."
