    Official UFC Thread

I thought I'd just make a general thread for the UFC and any other MMA.

Did anyone watch the final WEC event tonight? Wow. The main event was probably the fight of the year. Anthony "Showtime" Pettis pulled off one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life. Late in the 5th round he ran, jumped off the wall and in one motion landed a flush kick to Ben Henderson's face. If a video pops up on youtube I'll post it.

Pettis won and now will fight the winner of Frankie Edgar/Gray Maynard to consolidate the WEC and UFC lightweight belts since the WEC is now folded into the UFC.

Dominick Cruz defended his now UFC Bantamweight belt by beating Scott Jorgensen via decision tonight. The incredible Jose Aldo brings the Featherweight belt over.

If anyone hasn't seen the WEC, you'll love them as additions to the UFC. They're lighter weight fighters but always put on great fights with alot of finishes.

I was really hoping to see Aldo make his UFC debut Jan 1st........ don't know how long we'll have to wait now.

A lot of good action coming up in the next couple months, for sure.

Edgar vs. Maynard, Silva vs. Belfort, Jones vs. Bader, Franklin vs. Griffin, Penn vs. Fitch......

Yeah no doubt. The WEC merger should make all the cards deeper and better. Shouldn't be too many weak cards like when the headliner was Frank Mir vs. Cro Cop. Good time to be a fan of MMA.

Cain Velasquez tore his rotator cuff in his win against Brock Lesnar, out for 6-8 months. I was really looking forward to a fight with Dos Santos coming soon.

And it's just now coming out??? Sounds a little suspicious. And yes, I was looking forward to the Dos Santos fight too.

I like that Dos Santos isn't going to sit around and wait for his title shot. JDS vs. Shane Carwin would be an awesome fight.

Anyone buying UFC 125 Saturday? I am.

Haha I hear ya. Its not the best card but I think its pretty solid. I'm having a few people over and we're splitting the cost.

I like Frankie Edgar and it's always fun to watch Guida fight. Should be nice to see what Thiago Silva can look like in his return.

Well Silva looked pretty good. Destroyed Vera's nose. I loved when he played bongos on his back.

Frankie Edgar has so much heart its ridiculous. Its amazing what he was able to do after that first round. As much as a draw sucks, I had it scored 47-47 myself. Unfortunately for Anthony Pettis hes gonna have to wait a little longer for his next fight since Edgar/Maynard 3 is on tap.

Guida was pretty impressive too but I don't see him ever becoming a threat for the title.

Stann destroyed Leben. I thought it would be the other way around.

Very close title fight and pretty good one too. Maynard def won the 1st round 10-8. Edgar clearly won the 2 and 4th rounds. I actually thought Maynard won the 3rd, and the 5th was a draw. Considering it's a 10 point must system I guess I would have given Edgar the 5th and called it 47-47 draw too.

So the coaches for the next TUF are going to be Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos with the winner of that fight taking on Cain Velasquez when he recovers from rotator cuff surgery. That should bring in some good ratings. The next batch of fighters will be welterweights. I was hoping for a bantamweight or featherweight season to help out the newest weight classes but it'll be an interesting season regardless.

Anderson Silva - best knock out in UFC history last night?

Jon Jones - title shot against Shogun in a little more than a month. Crazy.

Slightly disappointing PPV with how good it looked on paper but still a fun night.

Three stars (hockey style): Silva, Jones, Donald Cerrone
