Agree on the Diaz brothers. I always root against them but have to respect them.
Loved seeing Fitch get knocked out in 12 seconds.
Brock was right to retire, he just can't hang with the elite strikers. Overeem/Dos Santos should be incredible fireworks.

Finally an impressive UFC performance for Aldo. Now Dana's saying its up to him whether he fights at 145 or 155 next.
Anthony Johnson released after the fight. That's what happens when u move up in weight and still miss the cut by 12 pounds. Apparently he was two pounds away before having to rehydrate but still. I'm guessing Bellator snaps him up.

Condit beats Diaz. Not that suprising to me. In fact I dropped a little money on Condit. Diaz is fun to watch in the octagon but the bottom line is he just wants to box. He's really a very complete fighter and Condit picked him apart tonight. And I knew he would either pull a punk move or whine if he lost.

Yeah that was great. He's pissed because Condit wouldn't play his game and picked him apart. Enjoy retirement Nick..
Roy Nelson is a tough SOB. Werdum wrecked him. And Renan Barao is a beast. He deserves a title shot.

I didn't watch last night, but a lot of people seem to be upset with Condit for fighting like a you know what. Condit picking him apart is not the impression I got from reading about the fight, even from most of the people who thought he won. My impression from reading it is was a relatively close, but boring fight.

Like I said, I didn't watch the fight and I'm not arguing that Diaz won. Picked apart seems like strong wording, though based on what I've read. And if the fight was like it seems through reading, I can't really be happy with a guy who won in that manner. I'll give him credit, but I won't applaud him for creating a boring fight.

Just go watch the fight. Condit clearly won IMO.
He wasn't "running" he just refused to let Diaz corner him and slug it out. Diaz would cut of the ring and COndit would escape out to the middle. That's just smart strategy. It's not like Condit had a longer reach and just was puching on the way backwards. He got off on the exchanges quicker and counter struck very well.

Thanks for the link.
I don't have a problem with the decision, but I won't say it was a clear win. And I certainly wouldn't say Condit picked Diaz apart considering the lack of damage inflicted during the vast majority of the fight. If backing up and landing a lot of leg kicks equal picking a guy apart, then that means something different than I think it does. He got some other shots in of course, but he didn't really do all that much. He was better at avoiding damage than inflicting it.
Like I said, I'll give him credit for winning, but he didn't earn any goodwill from the fans for winning in a rather boring manner.

COnsidering it went the distance I didn't think it was boring. There were no real exciting moments but I don't think that necessarily equals boring. Both guys were still working and the pace was fast. I watched it again too and I understand how some people would be upset in that there was just never really any exciting exchanges but it was fast paced, they stayed on their feet, and was pretty technical. I'm fine with that kind of fight. Better than seeing GSP tackle a guy and essentially holding him on the mat for 5 rounds.
Just as a final note: All 3 judges scored the fight for COndit and two of them scored it 4 rounds to 1 so I mean take that for whatever it is worth. I know judging can be screwy at times but when all 3 see it for the same guy and 2 of them have it 49-46 I'm not sure why there is so much controversy over the decision. They were moving around a lot, but not much was happening. So yeah, when not not much is happening for 5 rounds instead of 3, it's still a relatively boring fight imo.
Again, I'm fine with the decision and with giving Condit credit, but I wouldn't say he picked him apart and I wouldn't be heaping praise on him for that style of win. It's the type of win that doesn't make him that attractive to fans imo.
As far as the judges, well they often suck and I think the Sherdog "judges" had it as a close split decision, which I can see how they reached that conclusion. You can very easily argue 3 rounds for Diaz imo. I think more people are probably upset that the fight ended up sucking in their opinion and they blame Condit for that; thus, they don't like that he was rewarded for that. I can also see people thinking the fight was a lot closer than the judges thought as I already said.

COndit is an exciting fighter though in general. He just knew he probably wasn't going to get his arm raised if he stood toe to toe and slugged it out with Diaz. I think that is smart. If you want to harp on my pick him apart statement fine but COndit definitely was more technical and landed many more strikes. I just think Condit outsmarted Diaz and for whatever reason that has some upset. If Diaz would have just checked half the leg strikes, which I think he could have done, he would have given himself a much better chance to win. He just got sloppy and frustrated and it really hurt him in this fight.
