A sticky for this would be great, if the mods so choose.

2005 was pretty bad, but after that, wow.

Yeah, 2004 and 2005 were unfruitful. Hopefully a few of Kindle, Cody, Dickson, Pitta, Reed, Jones and Harewood come through in the coming season(s). We need a strong and youthful infusion.

    How was that draft bad?

Clayton was a decent 2/3 WR.

Terry started some for us and was a decent back up.

Brown was a very good center for us and left for a big deal.

Even DA had some NFL success.

    That's not a bad draft.

2004 was a pretty bad draft even though Edwards gave us some production and now, a 5th round pick.

Roderick Green should have been better.

It's funny, but I was going to say something similar... but besides Brown, it wasn't that good. Not a "bad" draft, but not good either.

I think it's fairly obvious that the reason the Ravens are consistently one of the better teams in the NFL is that they never miss on their first round picks. (Mark Clayton wasn't a star, but he was still productive)

There are usually only 6-8 pro bowlers taken in the first per year, and only 2-3 star players. It is amazing that the Ravens have never drafted a complete bust in the first round.

Yeah, I guess so. I think we're just so used to a "Ravens' draft" something like 2005 makes it look poor.

2004 was a bad draft but every other year you can see a lot of guys that have and in some cases continue to contribute at a high level. I still think last years class will be a good one and if Kindle can get back on the field it will be like having 2 first rounders this year. I love this franchise from the Owner on down. Just a top notch organization that has my complete faith.

Isn't it great that a "poor" Ravens draft is really just a mediocre one for most teams?

For however many negative things we can say about this team, they do so much so well it is crazy.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go whine about Cam Cameron in another thread.

Did we lose a bunch of draft picks in the 1999 draft because of free agent signings, or did we trade a bunch of them away? That seems like a very un-Ozzie Newsome draft to have so few picks. Granted, one of the picks became a Pro Bowler shut-down corner (when his head was in the right place), one a servicable, runblock specialist starter on the o-line for several years, and the other a nice 3rd receiver that just could never stay healthy.

I understand your point, but actually they missed on a huge 1st round pick in Boller which severly hurt this teams chances from '03-'05. The biggest flub in Ozzie's career as a GM was not having a solid veteran QB here for what was otherwise a Suberbowl caliber team.

Agreed. As much I love Ozzie, giving a Super bowl caliber team to a rookie was a bad mistake that might have cost him a ring or two.

Can this sticky be updated to include this year's draft? I'm so excited about this draft, it's crazy. I think we may have hit some homeruns here. I'm hearing good things about Chykie Brown, Tandon Doss, Tyrod Taylor, not to mention our first two picks, Mr. James Smith X 2.
