    • Blood Meridian, 1st ed./1st printing in dustjacket (not signed; if it were, I could retire)
    • The Producers, 1st/1st in dj, signed by Mel Brooks and Tom Meehan
    • Room, 1st in dj, signed by Emma Donoghue
    • Andersonville, 1st in slipcase, signed by MacKinlay Kantor
    • Hothead, 1st/1st in dj, signed by Cal Ripken, jr.
    • The King's Henchman, signed by Edna St. Vincent Millay and Deems Taylor (composer)
    • A Mercy, 1st in dj, signed by Toni Morrison
    • Call It Courage, 1st in dj, inscribed by Armstrong Sperry to Dorothy McKibben, "the gatekeeper to Los Alamos" during the Manhattan Project
    • The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, 1st in dj, by Rebecca Skloot
    I also have signed copies of books by the poet Witter Bynner, Karen Armstrong, Kathleen Norris, Richard Selzer, Richard Russo, Richard Rhodes, Kai Bird, Martin Sherwin, Michio Kaku, and authors who have signed at the bookstore.

    The only thing better than reading books is collecting them!

    Of the top of my head I know I own The Corner, signed by David Simon (would love to get co-author Ed Burns to sign too), and Blackhawk Down, signed by Mark Bowden.

    EDIT: Also own Gridlock Economy by Michael Heller.

    The City and the City, 1st UK ed. signed by China Miéville
    Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, 1st US ed. signed by Haruki Murakami

    Both of these, I mailed my copy for the author to inscribe. Apparently, it's pretty well received, as they can do it at their leisure instead of signing book after book at a signing event. Both have an inscription a bit more personal than just the author's signature.

    I hadn't thought of that for some reason. Do you send it to their publisher/agency?

    I contacted the US publisher through email in both cases. In Murakami's case, my contact person checked with him, and then gave me his office address in Tokyo to send it to. In Miéville's case, the publisher had me send it to a contact with the author's UK publisher, who got the book to him to sign. In both cases, I of course included return postage. I'll probably end up sending out more books, as USPS flat-rate boxes are pretty reasonable, and it's pretty neat to do. Mr. Miéville handwrote me a letter thanking me for the patronage, which was really cool.
