He may be able to handle Frederick with no problem. I'd be surprised if a HS arm started higher than the Sally, though.

I'm still not a fan of major league deals for high school players. Four years sounds like a long time but sometimes it takes guys that young more time than that to be able to stick at the major league level for good. Case in point is Adam Loewen. By the time he was in his fifth year he had to stay at the major league level while he could have used another year or two at the AA/AAA level.

This. We all fret and argue on exactly WHO our picks are, but Joe does get the deals done, in the end. VERY well done this year!

LeBron removed from 40 man for Bundy.

It seems obvious to me that Bundy put a premium on the ML deal so that he could get to the majors faster, start his service clock and be a FA sooner.

    Makes a lot of sense.

Hopefully, he makes a "Strasburgian" victory march through the minors in one year thrilling throngs of new O's supporters before he meets with Dr. Lew.....

This was at the bottom of Keith Law's article about draft winners.

The Orioles and the Diamondbacks should be ecstatic to add potential No. 1 starters to their systems and to do so at a reasonable cost.

Do you really believe a high schooler can handle high A with no problem?

Jacob Turner didn't start a High A but he advanced there pretty quickly his first full season and did well, so sure, it's possible he could handle it but the O's are not likely to start him there.

I agree. I do think that shortly after his career begins next year he will be the among the youngest players at each level they move him to. I would not be a bit surprised if they challenge him hard next year.

I believe there are HSers that can, but no organization I can think of would challenge them that quickly. It's considered a big deal in the industry if a HSer goes to full season ball right off the bat.

Have to imaging that Bundy starts 2012 at Delmarva for at least the first 4-6 weeks then moves onto Frederick. If things go as planned, he could start 2013 at Bowie and move up to Norfolk by seasons end. This would put him in the running for a spot in the Orioles rotation by 2014, but with service clock issues, don't look for him to be in the rotation until the third week of April unless MLB can fix the stupid service clock issues in the new CBA. As good as he's supposed to be, the Orioles have to be weary of rushing him and getting too many innings on his arm at a young age.

John Stockstill is pretty aggressive when it comes to promotions (Machado, Schoop, Avery come to mind) so you don't really know where he'll spend most of 2012, but I would not expect him to get much more than 120 innings next year wherever he pitches.

Even 120 innings would be a lot for a kid fresh out of high school. I think they'll be pretty careful with Bundy. Start him in the Sally league and they might have him on a 5 inning limit.

Bundy looks to be the type of kid that would have gone from High School to a big league mound a couple generations ago.

I just read something that made it sound like Bundy expects to be in Baltimore at some point in 2013.

Here is my question on Dylan Bundy, since he is on the 40 man roster next year can he be immediately traded?
