Women's World Cup
Incredible game going on. US, a player down, just tied it with about a minute left in Extra Time (overtime)... in the 121st minute.
Going to a shoot out now. If the US wins, this will be the lead story that'll capture the attention of a bit more of the general public before the next game.

With the goalie, Solo, having brilliantly saved Brazil's third penalty shot in the shootout, the US shootout lead 3-2. Shooting first, the US scored their 4th shot to go up 4-2.
Play-by-Play Announcer: "[Brazil's shooter] has the job of keeping Brazil alive in this World Cup. No pressure then."
Scores
"And it goes on."
With Krieger coming up for the US final shot and a chance to put it away.
"The biggest moment of her career, this."

"That's it. I must say perhaps the most dramatic game I have ever seen - Men or Women."

As amazing as today was, it also confirmed the one major thing that is likely keeping me from getting more into soccer. The way FIFA runs officiating is an embarrassment to fair play.
And it would have been a shame to see a bunch of losers like that Brazilian team make it to a World Cup semifinal.

Just speculating here. I think this explanation could just be an attempt to put an explanation to why you don't stop the remote on soccer. It's okay. I hope you'll get into these big moments. All I ask of non-soccer fans is... don't hate on it. I can fully understand folks not getting into soccer. I don't understand the hate. What? Did soccer kick their babies? (BTerp, I realize I'm not talking about you here.)

Actually, my remote does tend to stop on soccer; more than I often realize until I think about it. I used to be one of those haters, but I've definitely come to appreciate the sport over the years. I just find everything to do with soccer officiating, especially at the higher levels, repugnant. Add in FIFA in general, which is the like the NCAA with control over football when it comes to politics and bureaucracy and transparency, and it definitely affects my desire to go deeper into the sport as a fan. If those things anger me now, how insane would I get if i cared even more? Originally Posted by TakebackOPACY
And I agree about the women's game. Unlike essentially any other sport (other than maybe hockey, though I've not seen very much women's ice hockey) there is little obvious difference between the men's and women's game, and that is a definite asset.

I think some of the men need to watch how the women take PKs. Too many men just try to kick the crap out of the ball. Yes, male GKs are taller and can jump and dive higher, but 90% of taking the kick is still placement and the goalie guessing wrong.

Abby sure knows how to give head! Crazy momentum shifts in this game. This team is captivating the nation and I'm glad I'm aboard. I love the World Cup so much.

I've watched more Women's World Cup games lately than O's games. It's fun to watch a winner! Really incredible games so far. I still can't get into regular season soccer, but international play I love.

I have to agree there, although I never made it out to see the lingerie league. What was the local team? The Charm? I imagine that has to be an experience.
