This is a head scratcher for me unless the staff was convinced that they were going to cut Jarmon. He's more suited for a 3-4. I wish he worked out because I thought that was one of the better moves that Vinny made in his time here. I'm having trouble believing that more than one of Gaffney, Stokely, and Stallworth make the final 53.

Yeah I doubt that too but Mike is big on bringing in a lot of WR and keeping whoever the best may be. Moss and AA have spots, everything after that is up for grabs. He's always believed that anyone can do the job at WR he needs.

It's being reported now that the Stokley deal is off.

Yeah, he said the WR position was too crowded.

Stokley: "Hi Mr. Snyder. It's me, Stokley. You see...umm...the thing is...umm...I just don't think I'm as good as those guys. So, umm...if you don't mind...umm...do you mind if I play somewhere else?"

    Snyder: "Who are you? [click]"

Don't blame him. He saw the writing on the wall. 4 or 5 of those guys are going to get cut, and he was primed to be one of them. He wasn't going to play ahead of Moss or AA, and he's competing with Gaffney, Hankerson, Paul, and Austin for #3 (I feel like I'm missing someone).

Yeah, with Stokely and Williams, they supposedly had 14 receivers on the roster (that might include TE's).

No blame coming from me. I think it is a reasonable evaluation of the situation.

I'm nervous that we won't give Hankerson the time he needs to develop. We never really gave Kelly or Thomas a chance at the beginning and I think it really messed with their development.

I thought the same thing, we saw glimpses of Thomas at the end of 08 I think where he was really good. It looks like with the mid-level signings they are going to give him a shot though, if they went with one of the higher level guys, I think he'd be relegated to what Austin was last year.

With the short camp, Hankerson doesn't really have time to learn the offense effectively. So, I think they brought in all the guys they did to have bodies to trot out there while Hankerson can learn the offense. Gaffney has already run the offense before, so he'll be familiar with it even with a shortened training camp. I think Hankerson will get his chance.
