Whether you feel or not whether the bonus was justified-obviously Pittsburgh thought it was and Toronto and Boston would have probably paid it too if they knew he was signable for $5 million. I would think that Washington may have given it to him as well. Pittsburgh was not alone in thinking that the $5 million was justified from what I understand. If this is the case then his talents/leverage did indeed justify the $5 million bonus. I understand you may still not agree-and you are entitled to your opinion.

How could these specimen not be worth $5MM I ask you??? By the way, the one he squares up in the behind-the-plate view was a 94 mph fastball with armside life. Drool......

Regarding your Delmonico/Simon question, one isn't "better" in my opinion. You are looking for two different things with the picks. Delmonico comes with a lot more risk, and a lot more upside. Now, in hindsight, your scenarios would mean that Simon ended up being the more valuable pick-up. But in evaluating process, you'd have to compare your reasoning for selecting each, and figure out of the reasons it worked out/didn't work out are the reasons you considered in deciding to draft the young men.
