If I'm the ACC, I would only take Uconn, not Rutgers.
Rutgers has no tradition in football or basketball. Let them join the Big 10, or go to D-1AA. The only reason anyone cares about Rutgers is they're close to NYC. But if you have UCONN and Cuse, that should cover a major part of the NY market. As a Pitt fan I can tell you they're almost always a doormat...whatever upside they may have, it's just potential right now.
Instead of Rutgers, I'd rather see the ACC go for USF (they've been better than Miami in recent years, plus it would be insurance if FSU ever goes SEC), Navy (great academically, great fan base that will always be there, and a rising football program), or make an aggressive play for Notre Dame. They need another solid football school. Right now only FSU and VT are solid football programs in the ACC -- Miami is going to be down for a few years and they may not ever recover from these scandals, not like they've been that great since going ACC anyway.
If Notre Dame stays independent, maybe Navy will read the writing on the superconference wall and decide to join the ACC. Their academic profile is top notch. I've been to their stadium a few times and it is very impressive. Even when their football team stinks, they always get these high-profile matchups and sell out casue they're the frickin Navy. Can't say the same for a program like Rutgers -- their fans will only show up or travel if they're good, and even then it may be a stretch.
If ND doesn't join the ACC, I hope they end up having to go DIAA. That would be poetic justice, since they're the ones I see as most responsible for the Big East's demise. Their hubris knows no bounds, but they're going to fall hard if they don't accept the new NCAA reality.

Oh, and the Big East presidents and athletic directors are meeting in New York tonight. Syracuse and Pitt not invited, WVU rumored to not be going.

Seriously. Notre Dame has survived on its own long enough during the whole BCS debacle, and now people think that they'll be knocked down a level? They're the most profitable program in college football - perhaps the most recognizable brand in college sports - and even with all of this realignment talk, they'll still continue on as in independant.

Yup. Rejected by the SEC. At least for now.

I do feel bad for the fans of these schools (like WVU) who may not have a conference when this is said and done. I mean, they get used to following their team as part of a major football conference and then everyone around them abandons them.

I wouldn't go that far. Everything I've read is that they actually leave money on the table by choosing to remain independent. Their NBC deal is only for about $15 million/yr. They could get over $20 million if they joined the Big Ten. But they value their independence over money. As much as I despise Notre Dame, I have to tip my hat to them for some of the principle's they stand by....namely with regards to not bending on admissions for student athletes, particularly football players. They'll never win another national championship with that approach, and I think their fans need to acknowledge that, but if that's what's important to the university then good for them.

As expected, it would seem Missouri would be the SEC's 14th. I suspected they would want them over WV. I would still think WVU would be one of the choices though if they go to 16.
