I won't argue with that. We should wait and see.
They can't. They have extensions in the works for Finley, and Nelson, and only had like $6m in cap space last I checked. Maybe a sign-n-trade but I don't know how all that stuff works mechanics of the cap and the leverage GB loses with teams know they have to go over the cap to make it work.
Well one of the firsts is just swapping our pick. If we could get them to bite on Williams, they do need OL youth and he was a top 5 pick last year, and should be as good as a first, and then really we'd just give up a first next year to get him.
I'd just hate to look back in 3 years and say wow, we could have had the next Peyton Manning if we just gave up one or two players we hadn't drafted yet. With the parity in the NFL it's not out of the question to have a first rounder next year in the bottom of the first round just by drafting Luck.
Considering the source I'll take this as giving me props for realizing, like a lot of other people btw, that RG3 was going to be a top 5 pick before the experts actually put him in the top 5 of a mock draft. I can't help it you have no foresight to see that a player like that, especially at that position, is going to shoot up the draft boards and be a top 5 pick. That, or your scared to stick your neck out on the line a little bit for fear you might have to admit you're wrong.
I've already resigned to the idea that we're certainly not going to get Luck and I'd say there's no chance we're going to get RG3. I'm not opposed to trading up and getting a higher 1st round pick, but I'm not sure the Shanny/Allen regime would do that. They seem to want to horde draft picks and I have no arguments about that, especially since we seemed to get a great draft class this year.
So.... two questions: Who do you like for our first round pick and what other QB's can we take? Seems like any other QB at our #1 spot is a giant reach.
WR Justin Blackman would be a really good pick for you guys and I think there is a chance he is there at 6. I don;t know what your T situation is like but Riley Reiff or Jonathan Martin are both top 10 caliber prospects.
You could also consider trading down, acquiring picks and drafting Landry Jones or Ryan Tannehill in the middle to late portion of round 1.

According to Wikipedia:It would probably be in bad form to give up on Gabbert so quickly when he had zero weapons this past year, a short offseason and was inserted as starter in week 2, but you also couldn't blame JAX if they did go in another direction.Football Outsiders calculated that Gabbert's 2011 season was "with the fifth worst season we've ever measured" in aggregate value.
It's also incredibly depressing that the Ravens lost to this guy and I was there to watch it.
Ah yes, forgot to factor in the slipping Jacksonville did by winning on Sunday. I think we'll look back and say what a devastating loss (er win) it was for that franchise on Jan 1... #1 overall sent to their divisional foe and they drop in the draft.
Haha. As I said, I would have been good with picking RGIII wherever the Skins picked before he was being put in the top 5 by the experts and before you said he'd be a top 5 pick. Yes, I wasn't willing to make or agree with some absurd statement that said he and Barkley would definitely get picked in the top 5.
I still think buying Flynn and using the draft and FA to upgrade a few positions is the way to go. I will also go on record and say I think that is what Shanahan will do for the following reasons:
1. There is no question that Flynn is ready to be a starting QB in the NFL. He is older and has been groomed by one of the best offenses in the NFL over the past four? years.
2. Shanahan is going to want results now given his time into his contract. Even Luck in his rookie year, may not hit the ground running like Flynn should.
3. Snyder has shown that he is not afraid to open up his wallet in the past. If he remains willing to do that and, above all, listens to Allen and Shanahan, we should be able to acquire some key players through FA... AND load up through the draft for the second year in a row. (I am in favor of trading down if the "perfect player" is not there at #6. They drafted well last year in the low rounds.)
