My feeling as well. Shanny seems very content with the defensive front 7 - esp with Jarvis Jenkins coming back. We will probably shed McIntosh and give the job to Riley.
My favored draft scenario is to trade down from 6 to 10-12 and pick up one of the three offensive lineman scheduled to go around there while picking up an extra third rounder or so. Then package that pick plus our second rounder to move back into the bottom of the first round for a WR. I would look for the best defensive cornerback/safety available with our third rounder.
At some point, we need to invest in a QB, and I'm no Rex fan, but I would prefer to keep adding quality building blocks surrounding the QB.
Our front office has done a terrible job evaluating QBs the past two years or so. Seems that several teams have better back-up options than Rex. There has to be a way to obtain someone better than Rex without giving up multiple first rounders for RGIII or Manning or betting the ranch on Flynn.
Anyway, I think a major investment on the O-line, WR and improved QB could really improve the Skins competitiveness next year as Hankerson/Jenkins come back from injury and Williams/Davis come back from their issues. It would have taken three drafts, which I said it would take at the time, but Shanny would appear to have made major strides in improving the gaping talent gap that existed when Cerrato/Zorn were termed.

^^^Good points above with a couple of nitpicks. If they move from 6-10, I hope they pick up more than a third rounder for their efforts. Last year, they went from 10-16 and grabbed a second. If they don't move up to get Griffin and he's gone, I'd be happy with either Kirkpatrick or Blackmon. If the OL from USC happens to fall out of the top 5, then I think that pick would have huge trade value. I'm not as down on the line as you. I think with injuries and suspension, they developed some depth. My big concern is RT, but maybe they can slide Smith over there or Brown finally recovers. Outside of QB, I think they need to address the secondary and ILB the most. I have some hope for hankerson and Paul and also think they may grab a FA wr like bowe.

If RG3 is gone and the cost of trading up is too much, like asking for more than 1 first rounder outside of next year's, then you either draft the CB from LSU or trade down if there is a market for trading down. It only makes sense. Luckily for the Skins, I think that the top 6 players in the draft can be elite, after that there is no one worth trading up for. But the combine could change that. This is assuming Trent Richardson and Claibourne come out.

Agree on possibly taking one of the top cornerbacks at 6, but there are plenty of teams with poor defenses (Detroit, New England, etc) that could overpay to get one of the elite guys though I see early mock drafts with five or six cornerbacks projected in the first round.
Anyway, trading down worked out very well last year and I would love to see a repeat.
The Skins do need to acquire elite talent at the skill positions, but teams that keep piling up the draft picks are the ones that win and have options long term. It is a simple formula that mature organizations use to their advantage.

If the price to move up to get RG3 is too prohibitive, and I believe it will be, you either trade back to acquire more picks or stay at #6 and take Claiborne from LSU or Blackmon from OSU. Just my preference, I'd take Blackmon. He just reminds me of a young TO, hopefully without the drama.

Agreed 100%!
My preferences:
1. Manning and Saturday through trade of 2013 picks or FA + Blackmon/Claibourne or Kirkpatrick/trade down...
2. Flynn + Blackmon/Claibourne or Kirkpatrick/trade down...
3. Trade up but I'm very skeptical of what it would cost and how soon Griffin would be ready to run an NFL offense...
4. I don't have a real good 4th option. Kyle Orton and build through the draft?

I believe Saturday is a FA. If Manning's option isn't picked up, then sure. I don't know how much I'd trade for him though. I'd be skeptical of the Manning/kyle relationship.

Agree about Manning/Kyle. I think Kyle needs a younger QB who is willing to try to fit the system's shape and not shape the system to fit his style. Manning I imagine would have similar issues to McNabb, except he wouldn't suck. No one wants to come in and get told what to do by someone younger than them.
