The NFL draft may not officially commence until April, but that won't stop the Washington Redskins. The team already knows who its next quarterback will be.
"Washington Redskins president of operations Dennis Greene was overheard telling people at a Washington Economic Club luncheon today that a new quarterback has been chosen, 'and fans will be elated,'" Carol Ross Joynt of the Washingtonian relayed. "Greene said the mystery player's name won't be revealed until April, when the NFL draft occurs."
Channeling Carnac the Magnificent, the Redskins have three options which should get their fans "elated" courtesy of a draft choice.
Andrew Luck is expected to be the top No.1 overall draft selection. He may be acquired courtesy of a draft day trade.
Robert Griffin III, the Heisman Trophy winner, is expected to be a top five selection (Washington currently sits sixth overall in the draft order). ESPN's Mel Kiper has RGIII coming off the board at No. 4 overall to Cleveland in his mock draft. Another deal may be required to land Griffin.
A more likely option is Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill, a converted wide receiver, is already familiar with the west coast offense having played under Mike Sherman at College Station.
The possibility also exists the Redskins make a draft day trade for a veteran -- say, Peyton Manning.
Whatever the case, the team appears set to move on from its dynamic duo of Rex Grossman and John Beck. Kiper, meanwhile, has the Redskins looking at the secondary if they cannot find a way to make a trade for either top flight quarterback prospect.

It's complete BS. Nothing to see here, just people that know NOTHING running their mouths and other people trying to make something of nothing during a slow news period.

Eh, I could get over it as long as they don't give up a fortune. It's not what I would do, but I wouldn't complain about it too much. My preference has been well documented

Yeah, the source is just too off the wall, and there's no way they could know with any certainty right now.

Just imagine how fun it would be to play with the Skins in Madden if they had RG3! I don't remember any Skins teams being fun to play with, besides with Portis for a little bit.

Joe Philbin to Miami. Maybe Flynn goes there. He has some ties to Miami, Seattle, and Cleveland.

I really worry the Skins are going to blow this draft by giving up bunches of picks for a QB.
Reports like the above make me sick to my stomach.

Not okay with Rex/Beck. Most other organizations seemed to have significantly better backups in place than we did including a Texas team that won a playoff game with a third stringer. There has to be a way for Skins management to discover/find/acquire a better backup or two than Beck that might also pass Rex.
At some point, we have to cash in our chips and make a play for a very good QB, but I would rather continue to stockpile non-QB talent like we did successfully last year.
I am tired of this organization mistreating its draft picks and leaving so few picks for the next regime. Our owner and fan base need more patience to build something that will last with or without a top QB. Unfortunately, I believe our management is feeling heat to win next year and will do something desperate QB-wise. While this management team is in its third year, the talent deficit it inherited was massive relative to NYG, Dallas and Philly and so the re-building continues.

Some guys had an interesting point today and I'm not sure I really agree with it, but I figured I'd get a good argument for or against it on here.
They figured that trading up to draft RG3 would cost draft picks, but would cost about $8m less per year than it will cost to sign Flynn. (I don't agree with those numbers) That $8m they are saying could be used to put better talent around RG3 than Flynn would have.
My counter point is that it costs more money, but then you can surround Flynn with more talent with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick you are going to have to give up to trade up and draft, than the $8m is going to buy for RG3.
You could get a starting OL, a starting CB, and a nickel back with those 3 picks, versus the ONE NFL starter you will get in FA for $8m.
