Gah, this sucks. I really want RG3 but would have been stoked to get Barkley.
This is a time where Dan Snyder has to get back to his freewheeling ways and trade a bunch of picks to trade up and get a higher pick. I'm not a fan of trading away the rest of our 2012 draft but I'm perfectly happy with trading up picks in future drafts for a shot to get RG3 or even Luck.
Barkley's going back to USC, and Jacksonville may have seen enough of Gabbert to throw in the towel and take RG-III (assuming he even comes out). That leaves Landry Jones as the only other consensus 1st Round QB, and reviews on him are mixed enough that he might be a huge reach for where Washington will likely pick.
You never know with JAX...new owner, and they'll have a new coaching staff. In a similar situation Elway, Fox and Co. were pretty much content to let Tebow rot on the bench in Denver until it reached the point there was no hope with Orton, and they played Tebow for little other reason than to appease the fans....and were probably secretly hoping he'd fail too, so they could move on (not that they still won't do that). But back to Jacksonville, with all the new faces they may not have the same patience with Gabbert as the people who drafted him would have if they were still around.
I think Cleveland sticks with McCoy for now. They really need to give him better receivers. Miami is an obvious team in need of a QB. Not sure where things would stand as far as draft order if it stays the same and they finish with the same record as Wash.
Trent Dilfer is saying that Nick Foles from ASU will "skyrocket" up the board and be a "top 15" pick. Does anyone know anything about this guy?
Well, a Seahawks blogger doesn't like him...
Someone does it every year, usually because they have a "big arm" and MOST of the time they don't work out. Flacco is one of the exceptions, but I can think of guys like Dilfer himself, Ryan Leaf, Patrick Ramsey, Akili Smith, and there are tons other, I just can't think right now. You hear little to nothing about them all year, and then Feb or so they start creeping up draft boards, have a "great workout session, or combine" and are now a 1st rounder.
Dalton creeped to an extent last year. Granted, he wasn't the Christian Ponder, Losman, Boller who came from way back to become a 1st round pick but I wasn't haering his name much at all before the 3rd round and he moved all the way up to the top of the 2nd. Agree with your main point about guys who shoot up late usually being busts.
If RG3 goes back I would look to take the BPA, swallow hard and bring back Rex and look to get someone next year. The problem is really you guys are building up a solid core outside of the QB position. I could easily see Rex leading you guys to 8 or 9 wins next year.

Yeah Dalton did a little bit, I almost put him in there, but I actually kinda followed him all year, and I'm a very loose CFB fan, usually just my Terps and the big prospects.
I personally am not a Griffin fan, I'd avoid him anyway, but that's just me personally. Devoid of a decent QB choice, I'd probably start overhauling the secondary or take an elite WR maybe. I really like Armstrong and Austin though, so I'm not as pressed to do that as I am to get a QB who can get them the ball. I would either go with an interior OL (although in Shanny's system guys that excel in it aren't necessarily top draft picks, so maybe I go for the top CB, or a ballhawking S a la Ed Reed.
Then I go out and sign Matt Flynn to a decent contract and take a shot. If he pans out, he's Matt Schaub, if he doesn't he's a backup and you draft a guy next year.
I'm also partially a Kellen Moore fan, not sure where he is slotted, but if he were a 2nd round guy I would definitely pluck him there. I dunno if I'd spend a high first on him though.

So much for Luck ending up in Indy, looks unlikely now, I got them beating Jax next week.

If Griffin does come out, this could end up helping the Skins. If the Rams or Vikings get the pick and trade down or trade Bradford/Ponder, that would possibly take out one of the possible Griffin destinations. Instead of Luck going to the Colts and Griffin going to the Browns or Dolphins, you could see one of those teams getting Luck or Bradford/Ponder and then the Skins and just one other team as a likely team to take him in the top 10. It could also result in the Skins getting Bradford or Ponder.
Im kind of hoping the Rams get the 1 now so I can say I told you so when they trade Bradford and draft Luck. I also think Minnesota would draft Luck. I guess I should say I'm betting that whichever of the 3 teams end up with the #1 pick will draft Luck.
