Why Do I Watch?

Why do I watch them,
When I know it won’t end well?
All the pain they bring me,
I can’t even begin to tell.

For six months in a year,
They grasp my attention.
The heartbreak that ensues,
Should go without mention.

It’s like two estranged lovers,
That don’t want to be apart.
Even though this only causes,
More breaking of the heart.


Yet still I watch,
Fighting through the tears.
For I’ll forever be an Oriole,
Through good and bad years.
