2011 GTP: Robert Andino
Without a doubt he proved he was a big leaguer this year.

Using the guidelines, I gave him an A in his "role" as a "utility player". If it was as a starter, which it basically ended up being, it would have been a C.

This is where you get into debates about what the player did vs. what their expectations were.
I'll give him a C for overall performance, A for exceeding expectations, and split the middle with a B overall.

I cannot give him over a C because he is not a good offensive player, at any position. However, he did an admirable job filling it at second, and I believe he could be a utility player a la Melvin Mora lite. However, that's all he should be. Anybody that believes he should be, or can be an everyday player is delusional.

As an everyday player he is a C- or D. As a UTI guy playing everyday I have to judge him as a B+. He knocked Boston out of the playoffs so I give him the benefit of the doubt, he gets a B from me.

He did what they asked him to do very well, and he looks good out there. I just wish he could hit a little bit. Solid B.

Came in the season as a utility player, filled in admirably and improved drastically.
Being that I take expectation into my grades, I give the guy a high B/low A. He's basically our Elvis Andrus, but at 2B rather than SS. If he can improve his hitting (more doubles, please), then I think he'll be more valuable.

I gave him a B because he exceeded by expectations by a lot and improved as the year went along. In terms of actual performance compared to other 2B, he was more like a C or C-.

I had to give him an A. I just didn't expect anything from him yet he turned himself into a Major League baseball player. You can't ask for more improvement in a single season.

His defense this year is what takes him up to a B for me. He really showed me an ability to play second base and he always fills in nicely at shortstop and hung in at third. He's a below average hitter, but like Jeff Reboulet, he seems to have a knack for coming up with the big hit. He was certainly a below average hitting second baseman but his defensive value really made him quite average there. Once you add in his ability to play shortstop and third effectively, I think he has to be better than a C. Regardless, he proved he's a big leaguer this year.
