I have an iPod Touch (4th Gen). I would like to use it (along with a speaker) as an alarm clock. In particular, I would like to use it to listen to a daily podcast I enjoy that is uploaded overnight.
However, there are two issues. First, the iTunes software on the device does not have push downloading; thus I have to either sync with my computer or manually download each podcast. Second, the clock app does not allow music (and thus, podcasts) to be used as alarms.
After doing some quick research I found two apps that I thought could work. Downcast for the podcasts, and Nightstand Central for the alarm. Independently, they both seem to work as well as suggested. The problem is that there is no obvious way to connect the two. Downcast appears to download into its own library, and Nightstand will only select audio files from the iTunes library.
Thus defeated (and probably out four dollars) I decided to see what the experts have to say. Only I didn't know where to find them, so I figured I would try here instead.
Has anyone tried this before, with or without success? Is it possible? I would really like to wake up every morning to the nasally rants of Adam Carolla.
So...I guess that's a no?
I have an iPad. I downloaded iRadio and iSleep for the iPad and bought an iHome unit that works for iPads. I am able to wake up to internet radio but it was a PITA to set-up. So much so I almost took back the iHome but I got it to work and it's awesome.
Look on macrumors.com for a solution. Tons of great info on there. It also sounds like jail breaking would work as well.
