2011 GTP: Koji Uehara
Yeah, he was traded, but he still gave the Orioles a great year.

Here's one where MacPhail got it right. Saved money by not offering arbitration, signed him, and traded him at peak value. Koji did his part to maximize his value. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a ring for his efforts.

Alright, who gave Koji a B? 1.72 ERA, 0.70 WHIP, 11.5 K/9, 23.0 K/BB, 13 holds with one blown save. What in the world do you have to do to earn an A?

He gets an A.
AM gets a C for what he traded him for.

Not only did he have the stats listed by Frobby, he brought us Hunter and Davis. That's worth an upgrade from a B to an A all by itself. Maybe he was thinking the grade included the last two injury plagued seasons?

By the way, what's his contract situation? Does Tex have an option on him next year? Could he possibly return back to Baltimore?

Cool. Thanks.
While koji gets an A from me, I wish the team experimented more with his bullpen role. As a former starter, I felt that could have tried giving him 2-3 inning save opportunities or have him bail out the starter in a long relief like role before the game got out of hand.
