    2011 GTP: Brian Matusz

I'm gonna guess I know the answer to this grade. One of the biggest disappointing season ever for an Orioles player.

Easy F...Only reason you don't give him an F is because of his injury but still, him admitting that he wasn't ready to come back(which was his fault) is reason enough to give him an F IMO.

The scale needs to go downwards a few more letters, I give him a J or perhaps a L. Really terrible season.

D for me. The only reason it's not an F is because I think the pitching coach caused some of these issues. They tried to fix what wasn't broken last year.

I'd like to see what a guy has to do to get an F from you. He had the historically worse season ever for any pitcher who started ten or more games and who never relieved. Regardless of what you think caused it, his performance was easily the worse on the Orioles.

That doesn't change the fact that he was a clear F this season.

In fact, where is the option for "Z" Tony?

    I gave him an A.

No, just kidding. He gets an F. If there were a grade below F, I'd give him that.

At least he has set himself up for 2012 Comeback Player of the Year.

    Easy 'F'

Should start 2012 in minors or at best out of the pen.

We can't even get 100% out of this poll? Are there incognito BBWAA contrarians among us?

Easy F. I don't see how some guy can have this kind of opportunity and throw it away out of sheer laziness.

I gave him a B because that's the letter of his first name.

I have less confidence in his ability to be a front end starter. He needs to work extremely hard this Winter, and his spot in the ’12 rotation should be determined by his results in the Spring.
Good summary. That's pretty much the same way I feel about him at this point.

    F. Easily the most disappointing year of anyone on the team. I thought going in to Spring Training he had the chance to be a 15 game winner with a low 4 or high 3 ERA. Hoping he bounces back. He's still relatively young but this was not a good sophomore campaign for Brian and that's being kind.
