No need for eating up room on the board with individual threads for all the games...
Caps looked good tonight, 2-1 win over OTT. Great 1st period, all the scoring, Vokoun looked real good, gave up a tough angle shot with less than a min in the first, but aside from that played well.
Defense looks amazing, especially offensively. MJ90 really got the message in game 1 and had another goal tonight.
4-0 start, and I really find myself wondering if this team isn't going to find a way to win 60 games this year. Let's hope to stay healthy, but I'm getting a really good feeling about that big silver cup.
Hockey has periods, not halves.
For all of the "problems" this team has right now they are 4-0 and Ovechkin hasn't done much yet. Get him and a few other guys rolling and watch out.
The defense has been great, hopefully they can keep these guys healthy although Erskine is a more than adequate #7 and not to mention Orlov down at Hershey.
I didn't see the game Saturday, but it's nice to see them get a PP goal. PP will be one of the areas I'm going to keep an eye on this year to see if they can make a return to their past success. The other area I'm interested in will be Faceoffs, we've lost a few of our specialists. So I'm hoping the other guys can step up. It would be great if MJ90 could be closer to 50% this year.
I'm not making any predictions about the playoffs right now but I don't see any reason that they won't win the division again and compete for the top seed in the East.
Caps are off to their first 5-0 start in franchise history with a date with the Flyers on the cusp come Thursday. That should be a great early season match up. Defense played great tonight, as did Vokoun with a nice shut out.
I'm glad Vokoun is proving my doubts wrong, but I still have lingering concerns that he played that badly after whining about not getting the first start. Makes me wonder if he loses focus during a season. Seemed pretty hot-headed. Look around the NHL I don't think there is 1 goalie that has played all 5 games for their team.
They say this every year now. Let's hope they mean it this time.Originally Posted by Bruce Boudreau

Next two games against Philly and Detroit both are off to great starts as well, should make for some good hockey games.
Yea I agree Duffman Philly n Detroit are great test to see where we are at, and after that we have the Canucks and the Ducks.lol. I'm not afraid of any of them tho, we have been lookin pretty good. After his 1st game I have been really impressed with Vokoun, hopefully he keeps it up. I am gettin sick n tired of all the bashing on Ovie , hopefully he will get on fire here in the next game or two to shut up the critics.
Man, Philly is legit. If we don't take 1st in the East, they will. I thought they'd be tough but middle of the pack regular season with all the changes. They don't look like they are going to miss Richards or Carter much. Eek.
Also, the refs made a bad call on the dive, and missed two trips right afterwards. Ugh.
Agreed.
On a better note, these last 2 minutes have been a good a sequence as we've seen from the Caps on the young season so far. Two quick goals, in a period where not much was going at all for the Caps, have us up 2-1 heading into the 1st intermission. And Ovie is finally on the board!!!
Yeah that's about how I expect our season to go, some good grinding goal from the 3rd line, then a goal from the top line right behind it. The 2nd line is having a hard time getting going, but I think part of that is the "dive" on Semin, then the missed double minor the 2nd time on Laich. Flyers are just physically bruising that line.
Ugh, I hate junk goals. Good statement game right there though. Let's get it against DET!!!
