HA! They won for me too! And I didn't get lost on the metro (after going to her like 30th game).

Vokoun didn't look NEARLY as impressive as his stats may seem. The shots were hitting him, he wasn't stopping the shots. He kept falling down in the right place at the right time and people fired into him. He made MAYBE 3-4 real saves all night, and was beat at least 5 or 6 times, but people missed the net. Lot of luck for that guy tonight.

Oh, so that's why everyone has Ovechkin shirts.

His first goal was dumb luck, he was trying to pass to Laich in the slot, the defenseman tipped it and it floated over Miller's arm. The second one was a good set-up from Nicky and Alex just bombed it past Miller faster than he could react.

Haha, yeah, those two were more appropriate. He's getting back to himself lately.

I'm taking my oldest son to his first Caps game tonight. I haven't seen a live NHL game since I saw the Caps back in 1990 so I'm looking forward to it although I'm not looking forward to the metro down there during the week.

You are going to have a great time as long as the game is close. The crowd really gets into the games and it is definitely kid friendly.

Just make sure the two of you wear red.

Aw man, I can't go tonight, the inlaws will be there though. Good game to go to, Mike Green is making his return tonight. Depends where you are taking the metro from, if you go to college park or Greenbelt and take the green line it's not too bad, just stay away from the Red line at all costs.

Fingers crossed that Backstrom is ok after taking that elbow to the head on Tuesday night (Bourque got a 5 game suspension for the hit). The Caps are starting to play better and Backstrom has been solid all year so it would definitely sting if the Caps lost him now. They are off until Saturday night when they play in the Shark Tank so hopefully he will be good to go.

He's practicing today, that's a good sign. Especially since he just climbed up to like 7th in the NHL in scoring this week.

And Backstrom missed the San Jose game. The Caps lost this game, but that's no surprise I can't even remember the last time they won a game in San Jose. Even more troubling was the fact that Backs missed practice yesterday at well, really hoping this isn't something too major but with a blow to the head you never know. In other news Green only made it through half of the game before possibly tweaking his groin again. Losing Green again would stink but the Caps have learned to adapt to playing with out him, but they can ill afford to lose Backstrom for an extended period of time.

I don't think Nicky is that bad off, just giving him a break to play it safe, they only had the one game I think and then nothing until back home against the PENS, much smarter to give him 3-4 days off to rest and then see where he's at. If he doesn't practice tomorrow I'd say he's out through the rest of the week.

Green is more depressing because hurting it again like that after supposedly taking the extra time to heal almost guarantees he's out for the season. Probably just enough hope to keep him off of LTIR and his cap hit on the books.

Well they had the LA game last night too (before coming home for Pittsburgh), and surprise surprise another loss. This team is allergic to winning in California!

McPhee had Green and Backstrom fly home before they even played this game. I hope you are right and they are just being Cautious with Backstrom. I agree with you that it looks like Green could be done for the year, but we can ill afford to lose Backstrom. Would really help to have him back for the Pens game tomorrow night, but if he did have a concussion I don't blame them for being overly cautious.

Yeah I meant one game after the one they missed. It was a spread out stretch and those are the best times to have a player miss a game or two because they'll get 7-10 days of rest and only miss 2 games.

Crossing my fingers, but they need to figure something out soon. Trade time...

When are they going to make any moves to try and right the ship? If they wait much longer, this team may be hopeless...
