    Week 9: Redskins vs. 49ers, 11/6/11

The 49ers defeated the Redskins, 19-11, as the Redskins' offense once again did bupkis, and I again had other things to do rather than watch the travesty. The Redskins are back in their familiar, comfortable NFC East cellar, where they are likely to dwell for the rest of the season. As of the end of Week 9 (tonight's Bears/Eagles game has no bearing), the Redskins are scheduled to have the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

This post was brought to you by OCD.

Yea I was wondering where the Redskins talk was for yesterday. I mean sure, the Skins lost yet again.......but usually there is still talk on here whether they win or lose.

Yeah, a brutal offensive performance. The injuries are certainly playing a big role here, but the offense should still be better.

The game was far from being all on Beck, but I wouldn't mind going back to Rex now.

Stick with Beck for a few more weeks. You know what Rex can do. Beck probably isn't anything close to an answer but at least there is still some unknown quantity there. Plus the offense has been decimated with injuries.

It's not a big deal either way, but I wouldn't give Beck more than one more game unless he steps it up.

Grossman wasn't bad until he had that awful game where he got pulled.

I disagree. Grossman tried to give the game back to the Rams and had thrown more picks than TD's since week 1. He stinks and there's nothing to be gained by starting him again unless Beck is hurt. Even then I would probably sign a Trent Edwards or JP Losman over going back to Grossman. I laughed when the Skins signed him because there was just no upside to it whatsoever. It was a typical Orioles move. They should have traded for someone like Joe Webb this past offseason or drafted a late-round QB instead of going into the season with Grossman and Beck, or in addition to those two. I never got that, even though I was intrigued by Beck somewhat.

Beck is Stoney Case, but you might as well play him for the rest of the year to see what he's got. If he improves maybe he becomes a back-up guy. If not you are moving up in the draft. But if I am the Redskins right now, I am looking at the unsigned QB's out there right now and bringing them in to learn the system because you may need a guy in a week or two if Beck sucks or gets hurt.

Santana Moss and Tim Hightower did a lot more than Grossman to try to give back the Rams game.

Grossman is not as bad as you suggest and the team did pretty well with his as their QB, although they were more healthy then.

I agree that they should have looked at other QB options in the off-season.

Andy Dalton was just rookie of the month...just sayin'.

I don't know why, but Beck seems scared to go deep. Teams can stop the run and the intermediate game if he doesn't show them deep looks. That's one thing that Rex does bring to the table.

They're all trying. They just aren't good.

I am glad that they started 3 rookies on offense.

But the 9ers didn't play all that well. I don't think the Redskins could stop Gore if they kept giving him the ball.

And yes, Dalton's putting up some nice wins and stats. I still like how this year's draft went, but you have to grab a QB in April.

I'm not sure why you're just sayin' or why it follows that quote.

Beck has never won an NFL game as a starter. What makes you think he ever will? Is this a blind squirrel theory? Do you really need to see any more from Beck? He was scared for his life on Sunday (and rightfully so after the Buffalo game), and his whole game plan was "check down."

Gaffney, Hanky, and Davis are three worthy receivers on ANY team, but Beck simply can't find an open receiver, much less hit one outside of 10 yards.

Believe me, I LOVE the Redskins, but this might be the worst 'Skins team we've seen in a very long time. If Beck is here to do anything, it's to be our sacrificial lamb that's being lead to the slaughter so we can jockey for draft position. Shanahan actually said that this offense is "hard to watch."

The Skins liked Beck enough to name him the starter of the team on draft day last year. Grossman eventually started but they felt they had something in Beck to not draft anyone last April. What did they see? Have they seen it since then? I just dont know if you can really get a feel for a QB in 2 starts. Especially when you were so high on him from the start. Maybe being high on Beck was the first mistake.

You said they should've looked at other QB options. After they passed on a QB in the first, I REALLY wanted Dalton and with all of the trade downs it could have happened easily.
